After a short briefing about your tour, you'll have the rest of the evening to yourself. You can either relax at your hotel or spend the time according to your desire.
A sightseeing tour of Kathmandu Valley is organized before your helicopter tour. On this tour, you'll drive to Kathmandu Durbar Square, where you'll witness the centuries-old architecture and a series of ancient temples. You'll also visit some UNESCO world heritage sites like the Pashupatinath temple. After visiting these sites, the tour will take you to explore the streets of Patan and Patan Durbar Square.
On the third day of your tour, you'll head towards the airport to board the early morning helicopter ride. Taking the bird's eye view of the Kathmandu valley, beautiful landscapes, pristine rivers, and the magnificent mountain, you'll land at the highest viewpoint in the Everest region.

Did the Everest Base Camp Helicopter Tour spark your interest? Are you wondering which is the best season to get the most out of this tour? Well, we are here to clarify this topic.
The ideal time for the Everest Base Camp Heli Tour is undoubtedly the spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November) seasons. These seasons offer the best views with clear blue skies and favorable weather conditions.
As the weather will be harsh during the monsoon (June-August) and winter (December-February) seasons, exploring during these seasons is not recommended. Going on a helicopter ride during these times can even pose safety concerns. The mountains will also hide behind the thick clouds, and you won’t be able to make the most out of your tour.
It is always good to have options to explore, isn’t it? We have some similar yet unique helicopter tour packages that you would want to look into.
The Everest Helicopter Tour is the alternate option that you can look into. It is a 3-hour helicopter ride to the highest viewpoint in the Everest region, Kala Pathar. This tour skips the visit to Gokyo Lake and the sightseeing tour in Kathmandu. It takes you directly to fly over the Himalayas.
We also have the Everest View Heli Tour for you to delve into. You can complete this tour in 5 days. The tour includes a flight to Lukla, Hiking to Everest View Hotel, exploring the Khumjung village, and a heli ride back to Kathmandu.
Regardless of the tour you choose, we will make it an unforgettable experience in the Himalayas for you. So, mark your calendar and embark on the heli tours in Nepal with us.
Upon your arrival, you will be greeted by one of the Nepal Hiking Team’s representatives. He will help you get transferred to your Hotel. He will also explain further plans and programs to you. Since you have nothing else planned for the day, you can check into your Hotel and relax or send the time as you, please.
On this day, a full-day sightseeing tour is arranged for you. The sites that we’ll visit on this day are:
Pashupatinath Temple: Ancient Hindu Temple ( UNESCO World Heritage Sites)
Kathmandu Durbar Square: Ancient Series of Newari Temples and Palaces, and Living Goddess ( UNESCO World Heritage Sites)
Boudhanath Stupa: Holy and Most Popular Stupa ( UNESCO World Heritage Sites)
Swayambhunath Stupa: Buddhist Stupa ( UNESCO World Heritage Sites)
Patan Durbar Square: Ancient and Traditional City highlighting the architectural beauty of Nepal.
The tour starts approx. 10 am and ends approx—4 pm.
Early morning, you’ll be picked up from the Hotel and dropped off at Kathmandu’s airport. You’ll get into the helicopter. On the helicopter ride to Lukla, you’ll be on the top and be able to see the Kathmandu Valley. Look out for the rivers, hills, and many different snow-capped mountains on the way.
The ride from Kathmandu to Lukla will be 45 minutes. There will be a quick stop in Lukla for refueling. Lukla is a small town located in the Solukhumbu district of Nepal. It is popular for being the starting point for the Everest Base Camp Trek and the shortest airport runway.
After refueling, the tour will continue; we shall fly over to the Everest Base Camp to enjoy the aerial view of the most popular base camp. Then, we’ll continue our journey and land on Kala Patthar. Kala Patthar is the most popular viewpoint, which offers the closest view of Mt Everest and other surrounding mountains.
Later, we’ll get on the helicopter again and move toward our next destination.
Kala Patthar to Gokyo Lakes -Syangboche: Now, after spending some time on Kala Patthar, we head towards Gokyo Valley. We will witness the tranquil nature of the lakes then we land at Syangboche for breakfast.
Syangboche to Lukla: After completing your breakfast, you’ll head back to Lukla. On the way back, look out for rivers, and enjoy the view of the great Himalayas.
Lukla to Kathmandu: Next, we will fly back to Kathmandu. Free afternoon.
Meals: Breakfast Included.
Note:
Please remember that as this is a mountain helicopter tour, weather changes will lead to a delay or even cancellation of the flight. Please be prepared for the delays.
The program of tour ends today. One of the Nepal Hiking Team’s representatives will drop you off at the airport three hours before your flight departure. Goodbye.
Read our genuine feedback from past travelers with Nepal Hiking Team sourced from TripAdvisor, Google, Facebook, and Trustpilot.
I recently completed the Everest Base Camp trek and cannot say enough good things about the team that took care of us. Our main guide, Deepak Dhakal, was exceptional from start to finish. He was professional, calm, and extremely knowledgeable about the mountains, local culture, and the route. Deepak set an ideal pace, checked in on us regularly, and explained what to expect each day in a way that was both reassuring and motivating.
We were also supported by assistant guides Manu and Prem, who were fantastic throughout the trek. They were always nearby to help on steep or rocky sections, kept morale high with their positive attitude and humor, and made sure no one ever felt left behind.
A big thank you as well to the porters. They carried our bags with smiles and often arrived at the teahouses well before us, so everything was ready when we arrived. Their hard work and kindness were truly appreciated.
From logistics and teahouse selection to safety, acclimatization, and overall organization, everything was handled smoothly. This trek was a bucket-list experience for me, and Deepak, Manu, Prem, and the porter team made it unforgettable.
I highly recommend booking your Everest Base Camp trek with Nepal Hiking Team. You will be in very good hands.
If you want this shortened, made more emotional, or slightly more SEO-forward for your testimonial page, I can fine-tune it further while keeping it natural and credible.
I had an amazing experience with Nepal Hiking Team! I was a bit nervous as a solo female traveler, but they made me feel very comfortable, and the guides (especially our main guide, Prakash!) were so competent, kind, and responsible. We had a delay in our flight to Lukla due to weather, so we took a helicopter ride, and Ganga (trekking company owner) provided proper documentation for an insurance claim. I really wanted to support a local company and felt that the groups weren't as large as those of other companies we passed by (in a good way!).
The other Nepal Hiking Team guides and groups we met along the trek were also really nice and had good vibes, which I think is a testament to this company as a whole. Prakash was so kind and organized and made our trek seamless, and always made sure to check in when a couple of us got some mild altitude sickness. I felt very safe and cared for the entire trek. I couldn't have asked for a better experience, and I definitely recommend picking this reputable local trekking company!
Our group of three seniors completed the EBC Trek as a private group with Nepal Hiking Team (NHT), and the service we received was excellent.
Even before the trek began, Mr. Ganga Raj Thapa was very prompt in answering all our questions over email. Upon arriving in Kathmandu, Mr. Ramakrishna, our trek guide from NHT, welcomed us at the airport and took us to our hotel, Hotel WoodApple.
Mr. Ganga Raj provided a detailed briefing of our trek itinerary and answered all our queries.
Throughout the trek, Mr. Ramakrishna was incredibly patient, keeping pace with me as I trekked slowly. He never rushed me by saying 'chalo' or 'jamjam,' and always gave me time to take frequent breaks. We encountered tough conditions due to sudden weather changes and trekked on snow for nearly four days. Ramakrishna stayed with us, offering helpful advice to manage the situation. We successfully reached Gorakshep and climbed Kalapathar, where we enjoyed stunning views of the mountains, including Mount Everest. Unfortunately, the EBC point was closed due to five feet of snow.
When one member of our group decided to take a helicopter ride back from Gorakshep, Mr. Ramakrishna arranged everything efficiently.
The return trek, which took three days, felt quite long, as we had to cover considerable distances each day. To help with walking on hard snow, we bought crampons at Gorakshep. Ramakrishna suggested that we push to reach Pangboche on the first day of our return, making the second day more comfortable. Thankfully, the skies cleared during our return journey, giving us the beautiful views we had missed earlier.
The tea house at Namche Bazaar was the best we stayed at, and the other accommodations along the route were reasonable. Though some locations had shared toilets, they were always within the tea houses. The food was generally good, and as vegetarians, we mostly ordered Dal Bhaat and bread.
Ramakrishna ensured that all our accommodations and meals were well taken care of throughout the trek—we only needed to decide what to order at the tea houses. He also helped us navigate difficult sections of the trail and was always patient with our slow pace and my husband’s frequent photo stops. We are very grateful for his support and guidance.
After the trek, Mr. Ganga Raj met with us for a debriefing session, reflecting the customer-focused approach of NHT.
We stayed at Hotel WoodApple, a three-star hotel in Kathmandu, for two nights before and two nights after the trek. The hotel was well-located, with good room quality, cleanliness, and service. One of the highlights was enjoying a leisurely lunch at the rooftop restaurant.
NHT is an excellent choice for anyone planning to trek to EBC or explore other trails in Nepal. Ganga ji and his team (including Prakash ji, Druba ji, and other guides) were knowledgeable, friendly, and managed our group of 20+ people with great efficiency. They provided plenty of information and supported everyone throughout the entire trek.
The team was especially helpful in making arrangements for some group members who had to turn back from Namche or Lobuche due to health issues. They handled helicopter rides and hotel bookings seamlessly. When Ramchep Airport closed due to bad weather and roadblocks, the team quickly arranged alternative flights from KTM to Lukla and ensured we got out of Kathmandu without a hitch.
Highly recommend NHT!
Our experience with Nepal Hiking Team was amazing. We had a large group of over 25 people from the USA. They took excellent care of us and were very accommodating with any changes we needed, such as arranging helicopters. Everything we required was arranged promptly and efficiently. The quality of service was excellent and exactly as promised.
I highly recommend Nepal Hiking Team to anyone looking for a reliable agency to work with in Nepal. I’ll definitely be using them for future trips as well.
Nepal Hiking Team combines logistical excellence with genuine care, as reflected in reviews from solo travelers and large groups alike. They are praised for their responsiveness—with owner Ganga Raj Thapa personally handling briefings and debriefings—and for managing complex logistics like weather-related flight changes and helicopter evacuations smoothly. Their guides are known for being professional, kind, and competent, ensuring you feel comfortable and safe even on a short but high-value tour.
The team is highly experienced with mountain weather and Lukla flight operations. They proactively manage delays by providing clear communication and necessary documentation for insurance claims. As noted in reviews, they have arranged alternative flights and helicopter transfers when weather disrupted plans. Your safety and experience are their top priorities, and they have the local expertise to navigate the region's unpredictable conditions.
Reviews consistently highlight the company's professionalism and the exceptional quality of their guides. One solo female traveler praised guide Prakash for being "competent, kind, and responsible," noting the company's support in providing documentation for a weather-related insurance claim. Another review of a large group mentioned the team's efficiency in managing over 20 people, handling health-related helicopter evacuations, and seamlessly rebooking flights when airports closed. The recurring theme is reliability, excellent service, and a customer-focused approach.
Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, a Nepal Hiking Team representative will greet you and transfer you to your 5-star category hotel in Kathmandu. The first day is free for you to relax or explore. A short briefing about the tour will also be provided to ensure you're fully prepared for the coming days.
The Nepal entry visa is not included in the package cost. You can obtain it easily upon arrival at the airport. A 30-day multiple-entry tourist visa costs USD $40, and a 90-day visa costs USD $100. You'll need to bring two passport-sized photos and the fee in cash. The Nepal Hiking Team representative can assist you with the process if needed.
The first two days are designed to enrich your experience. Day 1 allows you to recover from your flight. Day 2 is a full-day guided sightseeing tour of Kathmandu Valley's UNESCO World Heritage Sites (Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, Swayambhunath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, and Patan Durbar Square). This gives you a deep cultural and historical introduction to Nepal before your helicopter adventure.
The minimum group size for this tour is 2 people. The tour is organized for a "group joining" option, meaning you can join a small group. If you are a solo traveler or prefer a private experience, you can contact the company to discuss options and pricing.
The package is comprehensive: airport transfers, 3 nights' 5-star hotel accommodation in Kathmandu with breakfast, a full-day guided sightseeing tour (including guide, entry fees, and private vehicle), the private helicopter mountain flight (with a stop at Kala Patthar, and flyovers of Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lake), breakfast at the world-famous Everest View Hotel, and all necessary permits and taxes.
You should budget for: lunches and dinners in Kathmandu, your Nepal entry visa, travel insurance (mandatory for helicopter flights and high altitudes), and tips for your tour guide and driver. Any personal expenses or meals outside of those specified are also not included.
The helicopter tour departs from Kathmandu and includes a 45-minute scenic flight to Lukla (with a brief refueling stop). You then fly over Everest Base Camp for aerial views, land at Kala Patthar (approx. 5,545m) for a 10-minute photo session with the closest view of Everest, fly over the serene Gokyo Lakes, and land at Syangboche for breakfast at the Everest View Hotel. The return flight to Kathmandu completes the journey. The total flight time is several hours, with the entire mountain segment being the core experience.
This tour is ideal for those with limited time, physical constraints, or who simply prefer a luxurious, efficient way to see the Himalayas. In under four hours of flight time, you get the same iconic views (Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, the Khumbu Glacier, and Kala Patthar) that trekkers take 12-14 days to reach. You also get the added benefits of a cultural tour in Kathmandu and a stay in a 5-star hotel.
Mountain weather is unpredictable. The company is experienced in handling such situations and will work to reschedule the flight as soon as conditions are safe. They will communicate with you throughout and, if needed, provide documentation for any travel insurance claims. The itinerary includes a buffer day (Day 4 is departure), but flexibility in your schedule is always recommended.
This tour is rated "Easy" in difficulty. No trekking or physical exertion is required. The only activity is boarding and exiting the helicopter. It is accessible to almost anyone, including seniors, families with children, and those with mobility concerns. You'll experience high altitudes only during the brief landing at Kala Patthar (5,545m), but no physical activity is required there.
Yes, it is suitable. The exposure to altitude is short (the time spent at Kala Patthar and Gokyo Lake is limited), and the helicopter cabin is pressurized. However, if you have known health conditions, it's wise to consult your doctor. The tour allows you to experience the majesty of the Everest region without the risks associated with prolonged high-altitude trekking.
Absolutely. The tour is designed to be inclusive. The minimum group size is 2, with no upper age limit mentioned. The easy difficulty and private vehicle/helicopter transport make it an excellent option for multi-generational families or groups with varying physical abilities.
The tour is operated by experienced pilots specializing in Himalayan mountain flights. The helicopter is well-maintained and equipped for high-altitude operations. The company closely monitors weather forecasts and will only operate when conditions are safe. Your safety is their primary concern, and they adhere to all aviation regulations and safety protocols.
While not listed as mandatory in the cost excludes, travel insurance is highly recommended and considered essential by the company. Your policy should cover helicopter flights, high-altitude activities (up to 6,000m), emergency medical evacuation, and trip cancellation or interruption due to weather. This protects you financially in case of unforeseen circumstances.
The landing at Kala Patthar is brief, and the guide is trained to monitor for any signs of discomfort. If any individual feels unwell, the group can return to the helicopter promptly to descend to a lower altitude. The helicopter provides a quick and safe way to manage any altitude-related issues.
Packing is minimal. You'll need comfortable, warm layered clothing for the helicopter flight and the time spent at Kala Patthar (temperatures can be cold at high altitude). Sturdy, comfortable shoes are recommended. Sunglasses, sunscreen, and a camera are essential. Your luggage can include standard travel attire for the cultural tours and hotel stays in Kathmandu.
No specialized trekking gear is required. While the company provides items like down jackets and sleeping bags for their trekking clients, this helicopter tour does not require them. You should dress in warm layers (fleece, a jacket) as it can be chilly at the landing sites. A warm hat and gloves are also a good idea.
Helicopters have weight and space limitations. You should pack light. The company will advise you on the specific weight allowance when you book. For this short tour, a single piece of soft-sided luggage per person is typically sufficient, along with a small daypack for personal items.
The package includes three nights' accommodation with breakfast at a 5-star category hotel in Kathmandu. This ensures a luxurious and comfortable stay. The hotel is well-located, and past guests have praised the quality and service.
You will have full connectivity (Wi-Fi and mobile data) at your hotel in Kathmandu. On the helicopter tour day, there is no Wi-Fi on the helicopter, but you may have intermittent mobile service at landing points like Lukla and Syangboche. The focus of the day is on the scenic experience, and connectivity is not necessary.
Breakfast is included each morning at your Kathmandu hotel. The package also includes a special breakfast at the Everest View Hotel in Syangboche during the helicopter tour. Lunches and dinners in Kathmandu are not included, giving you the flexibility to explore the city's renowned dining scene on your own.
Breakfast is included for all three days in Kathmandu. A highlight of the tour is the included breakfast at the Everest View Hotel, the world's highest luxury hotel, where you'll dine with spectacular mountain views. Lunches and dinners in Kathmandu are not included, allowing you to choose your own culinary experiences.
Bottled water is readily available at your hotel and during the sightseeing tours. On the helicopter day, you can bring your own water. Staying hydrated is important, especially on the day of the high-altitude flight, and your guide will advise accordingly.
Yes, the 5-star hotel and the Everest View Hotel can cater to common dietary requirements (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, etc.) with advance notice. Be sure to communicate any specific needs to the Nepal Hiking Team during the briefing so arrangements can be made.
Yes, while the package is offered as a "group joining" option, you can contact Nepal Hiking Team to arrange a private helicopter tour for you and your party. This allows for more flexibility in timing and a more exclusive experience. Pricing can be customized based on your group size and preferences.
If you're interested in variations, the company offers an "Everest Helicopter Tour" (a 3-hour direct flight to Kala Patthar, without the sightseeing tour and Gokyo Lake) and an "Everest View Heli Tour" (a 5-day tour that includes a flight to Lukla, a hike to Everest View Hotel, and a helicopter return). You can choose the option that best fits your time and interests.
Tipping is not included in the cost and is a way to appreciate good service. For this short tour, tips are typically given to the tour guide (for the Kathmandu sightseeing day) and the driver. There is no fixed amount, but a customary gesture is appreciated. The guide can advise you on local norms if you are unsure.
