A heads-up: Traveling through airports and getting to Lukla can be quite challenging due to unpredictable weather. It’s all part of the adventure, though! While these delays are beyond the guiding company’s control, they did everything possible to manage the situation smoothly and keep things on track.
This was the second time Lee and I hiked the (AC) Annapurna Circuit. We didn’t cross the Thorong La pass on our first trip, and we didn’t manage it this time either. However, having Suraj as our guide from Nepal Hiking Team made the experience so much more enjoyable. While fitness and health challenges kept us from crossing the pass, Suraj made sure I could still enjoy two unforgettable day hikes from Manang: one to Praken Gompa and the other to Ice Lake.
These hikes wouldn’t have been possible without Suraj’s keen judgment of our physical abilities and his gentle yet firm encouragement to keep going when we felt like giving up. His balance between motivating us and prioritizing safety was spot on, and we are grateful for his thoughtful care.
Throughout the trek, Suraj looked after Lee and me exceptionally well. He ensured we got sunny rooms, offered helpful suggestions for our meals, and brought a youthful energy that we found refreshing as two folks in our 60s. His sincerity, punctuality, and kind manners made us feel like we were traveling with family. His deep knowledge of the trails and local customs was evident, and we also appreciated his quiet confidence in gently saying no to a few of our wild ideas.
One moment stands out: when Lee realized he had left his glasses behind at a rest stop on the Ice Lake trail. Without a second thought, Suraj ran back up the trail to retrieve them. We felt terrible for causing him the extra effort, but his kindness left a lasting impression on us.
We remain deeply grateful to Suraj and the Nepal Hiking Team for making this trip memorable and for keeping our love for Nepal, its stunning mountains, powerful rivers, and kind-hearted people alive. We’ll never forget the time Ganga ji carried Quin’s bag for her on a trek 20 years ago—even though she wasn’t his client—and that same spirit of generosity is why we’ll keep coming back.
They know exactly what they’re doing and do it with high-level excellence. We were a ragtag team of seven, aged between 40 and 65 years, and they got us safely up to 16,500 feet and back without a problem.
Arun Ji (our guide) was truly special—he could do in advance what we needed, make adjustments along the way, and handle all the twists and turns that come with trekking in remote areas, where access is limited, and you have to adapt and overcome.
Ganga ji (the owner, ji at the end of the name, which is used in terms of respect) was incredibly supportive throughout the planning to end phase. He helped us navigate every shifting date and requirement, tossed in a few extras, and made the whole trip an amazing one.
I highly recommend this team if you’re looking for a personalized trekking experience. Make sure to ask for Arun Ji as your guide—you’ll thank me later!
My friends and I had never done a multiple day trek before—our experience was limited to only one-day weekend hikes. But the Nepal Hiking Team made everything smooth and super accommodating for us. On the first day, I underestimated the challenge of the trek and got quite sick due to the altitude and moving too quickly. Thankfully, our guide, Yubraj was incredibly supportive and shared the best tips that helped me recover quickly. After that, I wasn’t sick and fell well, and we all successfully reached Annapurna Base Camp with no major issues (apart from some sore legs!).
Our porters, Gurbinder and Krishna, were amazing, very kind, and we couldn’t have done without their help. By the end of the journey, we felt like we had made real friendships with the team. They even taught us a great fun card game that we’ll definitely play back home. Ganga, our first point of contact over email, was super helpful and made extending our stay in Nepal a breeze when we decided to stay beyond 14 days.
This ABC trek was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience and was made all the better and memorable with the Nepal Hiking Team. If anyone is interested in trekking in Nepal, 100% recommend them!
The ABC hike was incredibly enjoyable! My friends and I are pretty inexperienced hikers, but our guide Yubraj and our porters Krishna and Gabinda made the entire trip an absolute delight. Nepal Hiking Team handled all our accommodations and flights, even when floods and landslides disrupted our travel plans, and they arranged smooth transit to the hotels. I honestly couldn’t recommend this trip more highly!

We travel on our EBC trek during the beginning 2 weeks of September 2024. From the moment we landed at the kathmandu airport, in the middle of a rainstorm, the NHT was there to shepherd all the way long. During the entire tour, they were absolutely professional, helping us in the best way possible to reach our destiny of Everest Basecamp.
Our guide, Paban Panta, was professional, friendly, knowledgeable, and kind. He anticipated our every need and kept us motivated with his great sense of humor. I have Parkinson’s Disease and MS, which made the trek more challenging, but Paban was an amazing cheerleader and kept a close eye on my progress without ever making a fuss.
Gopal, our porter, was a sweet and polite man who treated our gear like it was his own and was always there with a helping hand whenever we needed it.
The tea houses and food along the trail were top-notch, and every detail was taken care of by the team.

If I had to pick a word to describe our experience with Nepal Hiking Team, it would be outstanding. My girlfriend and I took on the Annapurna Circuit with Bibek as a guide and Robin as a porter. I have nothing but only great things to say about the whole trip. The company delivered excellent service, making sure everything was organized and ran smoothly as planned. The teahouses and food along the route were great. When we changed our plan and decided to leave a day earlier instead of spending the last night in Kathmandu, Balaram ensured our bags were waiting for us at the airport without any issues. Everything was perfect.
The real highlight, however, was just how exceptional Bibek and Robin were. After seeing many other teams of porters and guides helping, serving, and socializing with guests at the guesthouse - I can confidently say that Bibek and Robin were a cut above the rest. They were incredibly attentive, friendly, and kind, always making sure we were having the best experience in every way possible. We learned so many things from them about Nepalese culture, traditions, and even the language. Having locals on the trail made the entire journey even more meaningful. If the guide and porter you get from Nepal Hiking Team are even half as amazing as Bibek and Robin, choosing this company for your trek will be absolutely worth it.
NHT proved to be a very professional and capable guide team for our EBC trek. As we set off on this long-anticipated journey with a group of friends, we encountered some challenges with the weather and heavy rains disrupting our travel plans. During these tough moments, NHT really came through for us, keeping us updated and ensuring that everyone had the transportation needed to reach Lukla and begin the trek.
Throughout the trek, the experience and professionalism of the guides—Prakash, Dhurba, Sabin, Vishal, and Indra—really stood out. They provided continuous support, making the hike enjoyable and encouraging. As the altitude increased, they remained vigilant, making sure each of us received the attention we needed to manage our individual challenges. On the final day, they truly went above and beyond, bringing in extra help to assist us through the most difficult part of the hike.
After the trek, they continued their great support, making sure we had a safe and smooth journey back to Kathmandu. They coordinated with each of us to ensure we made it back to our flights home without any issues.
