Unforgettable Poon Hill Trek with My Daughter – Highly Recommended!
We did a 5-day Poon Hill trek booked through Nepal Trek IL, and it was an amazing experience. Guy, our Israeli contact, was very helpful in planning a route that suited our pace and needs.
In Nepal, we were warmly welcomed by Nepal Hiking Team. Our guide Bibek met us with flower garlands at the airport and took care of us from day one. Along with our porter Suzu, they made sure we were safe, comfortable, and enjoying every moment. The trek was moderately challenging—just right for us—and the team even surprised us with desserts after dinner!
After the trek, Bibek continued to help by organizing our activities in Pokhara, showing real care and professionalism throughout. I highly recommend Nepal Trek IL, Nepal Hiking Team, and especially Bibek. Hope to return soon for another trek!

We recently completed an 11-day trek to Annapurna Base Camp with Nepali Hiking Team, and it was an incredible experience. I highly recommend this group for any of their tours.
We arranged our own accommodation in Kathmandu, and the team from Nepali Hiking Team met us at our hotel. From there, they took care of everything. Our guide, Prakash Sapkota, and our porter, Mr. Gokul, were experts in every aspect of the trek. They briefed us on the next day's itinerary each evening, making mornings a breeze. They were particularly attentive when my friend caught a cold midway through. Prakash knew exactly where to find the necessary medicine, allowing us to continue with minimal disruption.
The evenings were a highlight, learning and playing Nepali card games like Kitti and Dhumbal. I suggest picking up the rules to these games and bringing a deck of cards—it really helps the time fly by.
I’m certain we wouldn’t have made it without Prakash and Gokul. If you’re considering a trek to ABC, I can’t recommend Nepali Hiking Team and their attentive staff enough.
We recently completed the Annapurna Panorama Trail, and it was an absolutely incredible experience from start to finish! The stunning landscapes, well-planned itinerary, and smooth organization made this trek truly unforgettable.
A huge shoutout to our amazing guide, Ramesh—his knowledge, professionalism, and enthusiasm made the journey even more enjoyable. He kept us well-informed and comfortable the entire way. Our Sherpas, Govind and Sabil, were just as fantastic—so kind, attentive, and always ready to help with a smile. Their support made everything so much easier and more fun.
If you’re thinking about doing this trek, we can’t recommend it enough! The breathtaking views, warm hospitality, and expert guidance made it a truly special adventure. Huge thanks to the entire team for such a fantastic experience!

The Nepal entry visa fee is not included in the package cost. You can obtain a visa easily upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport or at Nepalese embassies abroad. A quick step-by-step video guide is also available to assist with the booking process.
Yes, the package offers flexibility. The scheduled departures are for the "group joining option," making it a great choice for solo travelers or small groups who want to share the experience. However, the page also emphasizes that NHT can create a more personalized family trek according to your preferences, so private treks are definitely an option.

This trek is officially categorized as "Easy" and is renowned as the easiest and most famous trek in the Annapurna region. The highlights explicitly state it suits everyone, from families, friends, and beginners to skilled adventurers. The daily walking distances range from 4 to 7 hours, with the main challenge being the 3,300 steep stone steps on the first day to Ulleri.
The highest point of the trek is Poon Hill at 3,210 meters (10,531 feet). You will also spend a night in Ghorepani at 2,880 meters. The itinerary is well-paced to allow for gradual acclimatization to the altitude, making it suitable for first-time trekkers.
Yes, the trek is highlighted as perfect for families, and one traveler review mentions doing the trek with their daughter, calling it "moderately challenging—just right for us." The relatively short duration, easy grade, and availability of comfortable lodge accommodations make it accessible for families with children and active older adults in good health.
Your safety is ensured by an experienced, English-speaking guide and a porter, whose insurance and equipment are fully covered. The guide carries a comprehensive medical kit and is trained to handle common issues like altitude sickness or minor injuries. Traveler reviews specifically mention guides being attentive when someone fell ill, knowing where to find necessary medicine.
While Poon Hill (3,210m) is at a moderate altitude, the risk of altitude sickness is low due to the gradual ascent. The itinerary includes a night at Ghorepani (2,880m) before the early morning hike to Poon Hill, providing some natural acclimatization. Your guide will monitor your well-being and advise on proper pacing and hydration to minimize any risk.
Personal travel insurance is mandatory and is listed in the cost excludes. Your insurance must cover medical expenses, emergency evacuation (including helicopter rescue), and trip cancellation. It's crucial to ensure your policy covers trekking at altitudes up to 4,000 meters, even though Poon Hill is lower.
You are responsible for your personal trekking equipment, as it is listed in the cost excludes. Essentials include sturdy, broken-in trekking boots, thermal layers, a fleece jacket, waterproof shell, trekking pants, gloves, a warm hat, sunglasses, and a water bottle. A flashlight/headlamp is specifically mentioned for the pre-dawn hike to Poon Hill. Since NHT provides a down jacket and sleeping bag, you can pack lighter on those items.
Your main gear will be carried by a porter, with a ratio of one porter for every two trekkers. Nepal Hiking Team provides a duffle bag for you to pack your trekking gear in. You only need to carry a small daypack for essentials like water, camera, sunscreen, and a fleece jacket during the day's walk.
You'll need your passport with a valid Nepal visa. The page mentions bringing 3 passport-size photographs, which are required for necessary paperwork and permits. Nepal Hiking Team handles all the permit arrangements for the Annapurna Conservation Area.
The package includes "best available twin sharing lodge to lodge accommodation" during the trek. These are basic but cozy teahouses/lodges found along the popular route, providing a warm place to sleep, a common dining area, and basic amenities. In Kathmandu, you'll stay in a 3-star category hotel with breakfast.
You'll be on a full board meal plan, which includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner with tea/coffee. The page mentions you can "indulge in a culinary journey, savoring various international and local dishes." Expect menus at lodges to offer a mix of Nepali staples (like dal bhat) and familiar Western options (pasta, pizza, noodles).
While not explicitly stated on the page, on a popular route like this, most lodges offer Wi-Fi for a small fee. Mobile network coverage (Ncell or NTC) is available in most villages like Ulleri, Ghorepani, and Ghandruk, though it can be intermittent. You can purchase a local SIM card in Kathmandu for data and calls.
The "Cost Includes" clearly state "full board meals with tea/coffee (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) during the trek." This covers all your main meals for the 4 days you are trekking. In Kathmandu, only breakfast is included for the two nights of hotel accommodation.
Drinking water and soft drinks are not included in the cost and are listed under "Cost Excludes." To save money and reduce plastic waste, it's highly recommended to bring a reusable water bottle and use water purification tablets or a filter. Boiled water is available for purchase at most lodges.
Yes, the lodges along the Annapurna trail are accustomed to catering to various dietary needs. You can easily request vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free options. Your guide can help communicate your preferences to the lodge owners.
Absolutely. The page states, "If the above Annapurna Poon Hill Trek itinerary does not meet your needs, we can design individualized travel plans based on your preferences and specifications." You can contact Nepal Hiking Team to arrange a private trek with your own guide and porter, tailored to your pace, dates, and group size.
The trip overview indicates a group size of "Min. 1 Pax," meaning the scheduled group departures are open for solo travelers to join, and the group can be small or larger. The porter ratio is fixed at 2 trekkers per porter, ensuring personalized support regardless of group size.
Tips and gratuities are not included in the cost and are a personal way to show appreciation for good service. While not mandatory, it's customary to tip. A general guideline is to tip 10-15% of the total guide/porter cost or around $5-10 per day for your guide and $3-5 per day for your porter, depending on your satisfaction with their service.
The trek's highlight is the pre-dawn 45-minute hike to the summit of Poon Hill (3,210m). This viewpoint is celebrated as one of the best in Nepal, offering a panoramic 360-degree view of the snow-capped Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. As the sun rises, it ignites the peaks in a brilliant display of color, creating a truly unforgettable Himalayan experience.
The itinerary specifies you'll depart before dawn, so you should be ready with your headlamp/flashlight, camera, and a bottle of water. The walk is short but steep, so wearing warm layers is essential as it can be very cold at the viewpoint before sunrise.
While weather can be unpredictable, the best seasons for the trek (March-May and Sept-Dec) offer the highest chances of clear skies. If the weather permits, you'll be rewarded with breathtaking, unobstructed views of peaks like Annapurna I (the 10th highest mountain in the world), Dhaulagiri, and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) as the sun's first light hits them.
