Traveller Review

  • Awesome Trek to Poon Hill and ABC

We're three friends from Hong Kong who undertook Poon Hill and Annapurna Base Camp. Two months before our Nepal adventure, we started looking for a travel agency to sort out all the details so we could enjoy a hassle-free trip. Nepal Hiking Team was incredibly responsive, offering us useful suggestions every step of the way.

We chose them to handle everything from hotel bookings to internal flights and airport pickups. Our guide, Rajesh, was both fun and young, attentive and attentive to our needs. When our flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara was canceled due to weather, Rajesh swiftly arranged a jeep to Pokhara, keeping us right on schedule.

Throughout the trek, he was vigilant about our safety, which gave us great peace of mind. Our porters, Robin and Budda, were always upbeat and industrious, carrying our bags with constant smiles and ensuring our comfort. This trek was our first hiking experience abroad, and it couldn't have been better. The people of Nepal are hot and welcoming.

The views from the mountains were breathtaking, and the sunrise over the snow-capped peaks from Poon Hill was simply stunning.

  • Memorable Annapurna base camp trek

This was my first holiday with the Nepal Hiking Team, and I trekked to Annapurna Base Camp with two of my friends in April 2024. The entire trip was fantastic, thanks to our guide Rajesh and porters Rabin and Budda, who were exceptional! They were incredibly thoughtful, friendly, and helpful. They took care of every detail and ensured our safety and enjoyment throughout the trek.

Ganga, the boss, was efficient in communication and excellent at making sure everything ran smoothly. Due to bad weather, we had to take a Jeep instead of a flight, but the well-planned and flexible itinerary accommodated our different flight schedules perfectly.

Everything was amazing! I would definitely recommend the Nepal Hiking Team to anyone looking to trek in Nepal.

  • Private Solo Trek with Guide and Porter

I emailed a couple of agents while planning my private solo trek of the Annapurna Circuit in May 2024 and decided on Nepal Hiking Team (NHT) based on Ganga's prompt replies, including altering the itinerary when I requested to add Tilicho Lake and having read their good reviews.

    It was the right choice.

The team was warm and professional from the start to the end of my trip. My guide Rajesh met and sent me to the airport at the start and end of my trip. Ganga, the MD, personally went through my trip itinerary with me over breakfast on Day 2, and met me again at the end of my trip to check-in on me.

Throughout the trek, I liked that Rajesh would sit down with me after dinner every evening to let me know the route, estimated time, and what to expect the next day. He is able to give comfortable and accurate estimates of the time taken based on my ability. He also advised the amount of water and gear to bring and ensured that I always had enough to eat, drink, and keep warm. My porter Raju was very kind and thoughtful - he not only carried the duffle with my gear and presented me with a carefully plated plate of fruits every night, he took the lead on many treks. He always checked back to ensure I was comfortable with the pace. At Thorong Pedi, he even volunteered to accompany me to trek up to the high camp and viewpoint. Both cautioned me to go at a comfortable and consistent pace to avoid AMS. Felt well taken care of throughout my trip.

The itinerary is pretty standard for Annapurna Circuit across agents. The difference for mine was probably adding Tilicho Lake and the part after Thorong-La pass. Apart from a couple of more tiring days, the daily treks were not difficult. There was plenty of time to rest each day. Adding Tilicho Lake unintendedly served as a training trek to 5000m and made the Thorong-La pass easier for me. Also, NHT recommended to sleep at Thorong Pedi (4600m) instead of the high camp (4900m) to get a better rest at a lower altitude. Although it was an additional hour of trek up to the high camp the next day, I felt that this decision was a good one.

Per my request, the team arranged for single room with ensuite toilet for me for all except 2 guesthouses. There were hot showers at all the guesthouses except Thorong Pedi where I was advised not to shower due to the higher altitude. WiFi and electricity (international socket) was widely available as well, although there was power outage at Tilicho Base Camp.

I would definitely choose Nepal Hiking Team (and request for Rajesh and Raju) for my next adventure. Strongly recommend NHT to those looking for a professional team with a touch of warmth and care.
