Trip Overview

Tamang Heritage Trail is one of the phenomenal trekking journeys in Nepal that offers insightful and meaningful experiences. It entails capturing beautiful mountain sceneries and embracing the amazing and unique Tamang culture of Nepal. Therefore, it is called the Tamang Heritage Trail.  The journey denotes the community, heritage, space/place, and traditions of the indigenous Tamang community of Nepal residing in the hilly areas. They are mainly known for their traditional music and musical instruments as well as for their intriguing customs.

This is a moderate hike that does not include trekking at a higher altitude. Thus it is a doable trek for all types of travelers. You will travel along the river banks towards the Tibetan border of Nepal. Likewise, you will be passing numerous humble settlements and Tamang towns like Gatlang, Goljung, Chilime, Thuman, Timure, and Briddim on this trekking venture. The individuals dwelling in those towns have the chance to glance at their fascinating culture and customs. Likewise, their one-of-a-kind ceremonies and rituals are practiced delightfully in the numerous religious communities, such as gumbas, chaityas, and Bihars that line the trekking trail.

Moreover, everything about the Tamang Heritage trail trek is simply appealing because it represents the splendor of the Tamang ethnic group. Their culture and tradition are in some way similar to Tibetan culture as their origin lies in Tibet. While passing by the incredibly charming towns, Trekkers would also get to witness colorful rhododendron flowers that blanket the hill areas. Similarly, breathtaking views of Jugal Himal, Ganesh Himal, and many more accompany trekkers on the trek. The satisfying and unadulterated climate of the Tamang Heritage Trail is elegantly satisfying to the spirit.

Overall, Tamang Heritage Trail is an exceptional cultural trekking experience in Nepal. Everything about this trek reverberates a delightful quintessential experience that shall stay on forever.

Best time for Tamang Heritage Trail

Tamang Heritage Trail is one of the flexible treks in Nepal because it is available to do in the spring, autumn, and winter season. Monsoon/Summer is also a doable trekking season, but it comes with a fair number of challenges. Summer/monsoon in Nepal is from June to August, and constantly changing weather and muddy trails adds more challenges. Other than this side back, then it is one of the fantastic times to experience the lush and thriving nature.

Similarly, during spring, which falls from March and May, the weather becomes precious to be in the hills. It is neither chilly nor warm, it just is moderate, and skies remain clear, offering glistening mountain views. Likewise, September to October and November to February is the autumn and winter season respective. Autumn is unarguably the best time to visit Nepal because the weather is favorable and stays fantastic throughout the day.

Likewise, winter is a bit chillier than autumn, but the mountain scenery is out of the world. Therefore, trekkers can choose to travel any time they like because this trek is almost attainable all year round.

Reviews

Jeff, North America Just got back from Nepal a couple of days ago, where my partner and I were doing an Everest Base Camp Trek assisted by Nepal Hiking Team. Their service couldn't have been better. I started planning this trip last Spring and looked at numerous trekking companies. Chose NHT due to the tremendously positive reviews on them, the professionalism of their website, and the quick response I got from Ganga when I sent an initial inquiry via their website -- he phoned me within a few hours, apparently as soon as the morning had come round to Nepal (given the time difference between North America and Nepal). He was extremely helpful and responsive from the start, all the way through the completion of our trek and the last couple of days back in Kathmandu. Our guide for the trek, Bhim, couldn't have been more helpful and took very good care of us and kept us safe. The whole operation and experience couldn't have been more positive.
Marcel, South Africa We recently returned from an EPIC trekking adventure to Everest Base Camp with the Nepal Hiking Team. Due to some time restraints we trekked on the cusp of the season, started our trek on 30th Aug, and returned to Kathmandu on the 10th of Sept, and what a great decision that was! The weather was amazing, we had most of the tea-houses to ourselves, our guides were on their first trip after the second wave of the covid 19. So it was great for them as well to witness everything as if for the first time. If you prefer a more 'quiet' trek, then I would recommend going on the cusp of the season! Our guide Raj of Nepal Hiking Team, did everything in his power to make the trip a most memorable trip and our wonderful porter who's name happens to be 'Love' totally lived up to his name! I cannot thank the Nepal Hiking Team enough for all their prep work, the guide's knowledge and caring for our welfare, and Ganga, the father of the group who personally met us at the airport and made sure that all our needs were met. What a great team, I highly recommend Nepal Hiking Team for your future Himalayan trekking!
Raymond Low, Singapore Nepal Hiking Team provide an excellent guide to me when I hiked Everest Base Camp. My guide, Mr. Prakesh Rai, is very professional and caring... He always gives me very informative replies whenever I have a question or two about the terrain which we are trekking, the history of certain towns or places we passed by or stayed...He is always asking how I am (my old right ankle injury came back)...and will help me carry my load.... We had a good time together especially when we take photographs of the awesome scenery.....He works tirelessly and would be a concern for my diet and always asked me if I had enough of food, hows my leg was, and whether feeling ok especially when we are going towards a higher altitude..... We had a wonderful acclimatization climb and he is always observing me how I am doing. Nepal Hiking Team rocks!.... And I would sincerely recommend my friends to this group..... It’s simply awesome!... Thank you Nepal Hiking team and it's truly a great experience traveling with your professional guide!
Yang, Singapore It was an awesome experience in Nepal, in which a big part of my trip was covered in the mountain, thank to NHT. Ganga, the company manager has been engaging since my enquiry and very efficient and patient with all my queries. They are flexible to customize to my needs due to my planned itinerary besides hiking. They also made arrangement for airport pick up and Ganga met me in person in my lodge to go through the procedures and discussion. 2 days prior to the trek it was raining heavily and many flights were cancelled. We were lucky to tag along a rescue helicopter to Lukla, also thank to Ganga's arrangement. When we arrived at the start point, we were welcome by the friendly guide and porters. My relationship with Gurung, the guide was very good, he took care of me every single bit of the trip, as I was a slow walker in the team. He would check our conditions from time to time to ensure our well beings. Gurung and I joked around in the tea houses and we made many friends and some exchange of cultural knowledge. I was not well when I returned from Base Camp. We discussed and we decided that an evacuation was needed. Gurung visited me in the hospital and sent me back to the hotel after discharge. I had a farewell lunch with him. Ganga and Hari, the 2 managers visited me on the 2 days and they even sent me to the hospital again for report collection. Hari also sent me to the airport on my departure day. I have total satisfaction and heart-felt appreciation for Nepal Hiking Team. There were other companies who tried to compromise prices and quality but not NHT, who insisted on quality and care above all. I'm back in Singapore safely. And they are keeping in contact with me on some follow-ups. I truly want to recommend you this company for their awesome service given the reasonable if not attractive price! This trip was so awesome although I had some hiccups on my decent. I miss Nepal alot, and the friendship shared.
Stephen, Australia I finished the ABC and Bhutan Tours with Nepal Hiking Team and had a very good time. It was a great pleasure dealing with Balaram and Ganga. They are extremely professional, flexible, and accommodating. prior to the trip, I had been constantly emailing Balaram with my questions, whether or not they are directly related to the trek. Balaram was always extremely responsive with detailed answers and he was always patient. When I first got to Kathmandu, both Ganga and Balaram met me at the hotel to greet me. Throughout the trip, they constantly checked up with the guide to make sure that everything went okay. Overall, the trek was well organized and I can say with confidence that the team has done their best to ensure that my needs were met. I am already thinking about coming back to Nepal for my next trek and I will certainly go with Nepal Hiking Team again.
