Trip Overview

Lower Dolpo trek is an exciting 18 days journey to relish the pristine beauty and rugged terrain in one of the remote places of Nepal. The lower Dolpo was opened for trekking in 1989 however the region has remained untouched and unexplored due to its isolated location. The lower Dolpo lies in an isolated corner in the Trans Himalayas of Nepal which is naturally very rich in Himalayan valleys and resembles to the Tibetan highlands. Lower Dolpo Trek is a superb combination of mountain views, high passes, fantastic landscape, lush valleys, beautiful lakes with Tibetan Buddhist influenced culture with nomadic people who practice their ancient traditional culture and lifestyle.

The 18 days Lower Dolpo Trek begins from Jhupal that takes us to some outstanding remote locations that lies in the backdrop of beautiful Himalayas. The colourful barren slopes of the mountains are alluring that reflects the wilderness of the region. We walk through the virgin territory that is very rarely walked by outsiders. The trail to Lower Dolpo graces three high passes namely Kangmara La, Baga La and Numa La which is a great achievement of our journey. The trek to Lower Dolpo is quite strenuous as you have to endure the harsh climate and dry rugged terrain. The pleasing moment of cherishing the beauty of tranquil Phoksundo Lake is the major attraction of this trekking journey.

The trail to Lower Dolpo passes through Shey Phoksundo National Park therefore, Lower Dolpo Trek is an opportunity to encounter varieties of unique floras and faunas. The people residing in this area are simple, helpful and friendly. The people residing in this region are the descendants of Tibetan who still practice pre Buddhist Bon religion. Their lifestyle is very simple and traditional. They have their own unique dialect that resembles the Tibetan language. If you are ready for the challenge of trekking to Lower Dolpo region of Nepal, then contact Nepal Hiking Team. Reviews

Mike, USA I went with my girlfriend to the Everest Base Camp with a guide and porter from Nepal Hiking Team. Right from the pick-up from the airport, we felt like valued clients, and we were made to feel very welcome and relaxed in an otherwise hectic city. From the moment the trek started, our guide Bheg ensured we were comfortable and constantly checked on our physical state throughout each day and provided advice and assistance where we needed it. Overall, the experience was one I'll never forget, primarily because I proposed at the top and because the Nepal Hiking team made the experience as stress-free and as organized as possible, all with a smile on their face at all times. I highly recommend NHT.
Megan Y., China Ganga, Balaram, and the team were fantastic; even when we had a 24-hour flight delay, they re-scheduled everything without fuss or fee. We had an excellent driver for just us (and guide where we had them). We even changed things along the way, and whether the driver, guide, or agent, they were more than willing to help and be flexible. :) The trip took in some hiking, some sightseeing, some relaxing, the jungle, and for each occasion and location, we were provided a specialist guide for the event/location. The hotels they chose for us were precisely our requirements based on the activity we were experiencing on any given day. Balaram even met us many times in person to round off the experience and ensure all was well and take honest feedback in person - the personal touch makes you feel even more appreciated and welcome as a customer. We would recommend anyone contact the team if they are planning a trip to Nepal. Thank you, guys, for a memorable vacation.
Jonathan, USA The team NHT provided the best possible service. They were attentive in every aspect in the months leading up to the trek through emails and were responsive and thorough in addressing my questions and concerns. During our tour, Bheg (our guide) and our porter were there to take care of our (myself and one other trekker) needs and always smile and graciously. I have used other more expensive and well-known trekking teams in the Himalayas in the past and would rank NHT on an equal or higher plain. Bheg has many years of experience, as did our porter, and was very competent in their roles and Bheg in his knowledge of the area and the trek. Though our porter did not speak very much, Bheg was kind enough to translate when asked, and our porter was equally attentive in assisting Bheg and us to ensure a successful trek. Very competitive price and an excellent team and experience. I highly recommend them.
Marcello, Brazil Nepal is one of the places in the world everybody MUST go. I've been to Nepal 3 times in just five years. Living in Brazil, so far away from Nepal, I wouldn't travel so much to the country had I not enjoyed the place very much. It's the best place in the world for trekking, and the people are amazing, the food is delicious, and the views of the Himalayas are gorgeous. I book my tours with Nepal Hiking Team, which is a reliable company. The first time I visited Nepal, I booked my trek to Annapurna Base Camp and an overland tour to Tibet. Everything was previously arranged. Nothing to worry about. They applied for the permits, put me in a group (we are requested to join a group to enter Tibet), and booked a perfect hotel in Kathmandu. One month ago, I traveled to Nepal to trek the Annapurna Circuit and the Nar-Phu trek. For the second time, I booked my tour with Nepal Hiking Team. I went trekking in a very remote area with scenic spots and charming villages. In the middle of the trek, I began to feel a little uncomfortable by the cold weather, and my left foot was in pain, so I had to finish my hike earlier than expected. I told my guide I was not feeling good, and then Nepal Hiking Team gave me all support I needed on my way back to Kathmandu. NHT care of everything, so you can enjoy your trek with no worries. From the moment you are picked up at the airport to the moment you leave the country, you are in good hands. Their representatives will greet you at the airport, and you'll soon be briefed on everything about the trek you are going to enjoy. Guides from the Nepal Hiking Team are helpful and speak excellent English. I especially recommend Raj, a friendly guide, and Lalman if you want to request a Porter. Both do an outstanding job. So, if you're going to have a great time in Nepal, be sure to choose Nepal Hiking Team as your local travel agency from beginning to end. It's a reliable company, and I recommend it.
Sara, sweden We went on Everest Base Camp trek with Gokyo Lake back in March of 2019. When I first contact NHT, they were so nice enough to have an hour long chat on what’s app arranging a trip for us for late autumn of that year. However, due to personal reason, we decided to go on a trip earlier than the planned date. NHT had only few weeks to make all the preparations. But they managed everything smoothly. From our hotel reservation to flight tickets and guesthouse on the trek, everything was planned out carefully. We were thoroughly impressed with how they organized everything in a short notice. Ganga, was very polite and always accessible to have chat whenever we were on the trek. From the beginning to the end of our trek, Ganga made sure everything was Ok with us. Also, we cannot forget Bhim our guide on the trek. He made us laugh all through the journey. He is very skilled and has lots of knowledge about mountains and about the people and culture. Because of him and his good network of people, we were able to enjoy the local experience of the Everest region. Also, our porter, who spoke who very took good care of us. Whenever, we stopped on the trek, he always asking if our bag were heavy on us. Everything went well on the trek because of these two amazing people. If our friends or relatives ever decide to visit Nepal, we will strongly recommend them to go with NHT and to choose Bhim. I am forever grateful towards everyone involved in organizing our trek. We completely enjoyed our trek and had exceptionally wonderful time in the Himalayas. These people are professional and know what they are doing. So if anyone is looking for a reliable and a good travel agency in Nepal, they should not hesitate to go with Nepal Hiking Team. They really are the best!
