Nepal Hiking Team proudly announces that seven-year-old Ivan Krasiukov, a Russian national based in Dubai, has completed both the Everest Base Camp Trek and the Annapurna Circuit Trek in Nepal within a single year. His extraordinary achievement, officially recognised in November 2025 by Official World Record Europe (OWR Europe) as the youngest person to complete both treks in one year, was widely covered by The Times of India, Gulf News, and Bloom World Academy. Completed in April 2024, the Everest Base Camp Trek in Nepal marked the first stage of young Ivan Krasiukov’s remarkable Himalayan journey. At just six years old, this Russian-born Dubai resident set foot on one of the most legendary trekking routes in the world, walking alongside his parents under the guidance of Nepal Hiking Team’s professional crew.

The family of three covered about 130 kilometres through the Khumbu Valley, following the classic trail from Lukla to Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Dingboche, Lobuche, and finally to Everest Base Camp (5,364 m). Throughout the trek, Nepal Hiking Team ensured steady acclimatisation, structured rest days, and daily health monitoring to maintain comfort and safety at high altitude.

Ivan’s passage through the Khumbu yielded moments that long-time trekkers hold dear: the first view of Everest above Namche, prayer flags surrounding Tengboche Monastery, and the excitement of reaching Base Camp beneath towering peaks.

“When we first met Ivan, we saw remarkable preparation and determination,” said Ganga Raj Thapa, Managing Director of Nepal Hiking Team. “Our guides designed a pace plan with daily health checks to make sure the trek was safe, enjoyable, and empowering for him. Seeing his confidence grow each day inspired our entire crew.”

He added that the successful completion of the Everest Base Camp Trek prepared Ivan for the challenges ahead and proved that, with proper planning and professional guidance, Nepal’s most iconic high-altitude route can be a transformative family experience.

After his Everest Base Camp success, Ivan, accompanied by his parents, arrived in Kathmandu on March 28 2025 to fulfil another goal in the Himalayas — the Annapurna Circuit Trek. Guided by Bhim Thapa and assisted by two experienced porters from Nepal Hiking Team, the family set out on a 10-day journey through remote valleys and ancient villages to the Thorong La Pass.

Each day brought new scenery, pine forests near Chame, windswept ridges above Pisang, and glacier-fed valleys in Manang. The climb to Thorong La Pass, 52 metres higher than Everest Base Camp, was the most challenging stage, yet Ivan overcame it with determination and family support under Nepal Hiking Team’s expert guidance.

“Guiding Ivan and his family was a memorable experience,” said Bhim Thapa, Lead Guide with Nepal Hiking Team. “He was disciplined, curious, and full of spirit. Every day on the Annapurna Circuit showed how determination and careful planning can make even the toughest trails achievable for families.”

The achievement was featured by The Times of India (“Dubai 7-year-old Ivan Krasiukov sets world record for epic Himalayan treks, completes Annapurna Circuit”), EducationUAE (“Bloom World Academy Student Becomes the Youngest Official World Record Holder, Completing Two of the World’s Highest Treks at Age 7”) and Gulf News (“Dubai boy, 7, conquers Everest Base Camp and Annapurna Circuit in a year”), all recognising Nepal Hiking Team’s operational excellence and safety support during the expedition.

Inside the Expedition: Field Notes from Nepal Hiking Team

Besides Ivan’s achievement, there was careful planning, field experience, and constant communication between the family and Nepal Hiking Team.

The team conducted detailed briefings in Kathmandu before both treks, ensuring every stage matched the family’s pace and comfort level. Extended acclimatisation in Namche Bazaar and Manang allowed safe altitude adaptation.

Pulse oximeter readings were taken every evening during the Annapurna Circuit, and backup oxygen and a satellite phone were carried for safety. These measures reflected Nepal Hiking Team’s long-standing commitment to professionalism, especially when guiding younger trekkers.

Every family that treks with us becomes part of our team,” said Ganga Raj Thapa. “We plan every detail carefully so the experience stays safe, educational, and meaningful for everyone.”

Most of the same core team accompanied Ivan and his parents on both expeditions for continuity and familiarity.

The trust and teamwork that developed helped them through long days and cold passes. One emotional moment came at Thorong La Pass, where the family raised a bunch of prayer flags together, celebrating the end of an unforgettable journey.

Everest Base Camp and Annapurna Circuit: Nepal’s Icons of Aspiration

The Everest Base Camp Trek and the Annapurna Circuit remain enduring tests of perseverance and the essence of Himalayan adventure. These routes attract trekkers from around the world seeking connection with nature and purposeful travel.

Completing both treks within a year was less about setting a record than sharing an experience rooted in patience and teamwork. Each step of the team, from the glaciers of Khumbu to the wind-blown valleys of Manang, reflected the spirit of Nepal’s mountains and culture.

According to Balaram Thapa, CEO of Nepal Hiking Team,

Both the Everest Base Camp and Annapurna Circuit treks in Nepal are symbolic of discipline and teamwork. When a young traveller completes both safely and joyfully, it shows how big dreams turn into experiences through preparation and expert guidance.”

Nepal Hiking Team continues to promote a balance of adventure and safety, reinforcing Nepal’s reputation as a destination where every trek embodies endurance, humility, and connection.

Global Recognition and Local Pride

Coverage by The Times of India, Gulf News, EducationUAE, and Bloom World Academy of Ivan Krasiukov’s achievement drew international attention not only to his record but also to Nepal’s growing reputation for safe, responsible trekking. Bloom World Academy’s Principal John Bell praised Ivan’s “determination, resilience, and international mindedness,” describing his success as “a testament to curiosity and perseverance.”

This recognition reaffirmed Nepal Hiking Team’s dedication to authentic, high-standard Himalayan experiences. Each guide and porter on the expedition personified the strength, skill, and hospitality that define Nepali trekking culture, ensuring the record-setting journey respected local traditions and fragile environments.

Our success depends on teamwork between travellers and guides,” said Ganga Raj Thapa. “This achievement illustrates what makes Nepal’s mountains special: respect, safety, and shared purpose. When readers worldwide see these values in stories like Ivan’s, they understand what trekking in Nepal truly means.”

Beyond the record, Ivan’s story continues to inspire families and young adventurers globally — proving that with preparation, passion, and trust, the Himalayas welcome every generation of dreamers.
