My husband and I spent a month in Nepal and had the opportunity of two treks with the Nepal Hiking Team. We started with the Langtang Valley Trek, which was an incredible "warm-up" to the Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) Short Trek. Please refer to the separate review for that amazing experience. After hiking above 16,000ft at the summit of Chorka Ri, we were well-prepared for ABC. This trek is a breathtaking loop up a 3,300-step staircase leading to several spectacular vantage points (hello, Poon Hill!) before a thrilling approach to the base of Machapuchare (Fishtail) and the Annapurna range.
Each day brought new and increasingly stunning views as we neared ABC. On finally arriving, we didn’t feel small but rather privileged to stand in awe of the mountains we had spent a week reaching. Reaching the base camp would have been enough. However, Nepal Hiking Team made it truly outstanding.
Our guide, Santosh, and porter, Sabin, flawlessly guided our experience. Their expertise in trekking strategy, topography, botany, and life made this the journey of a lifetime. Thank you, gentlemen. And a big thank you to Balaram and Ganga (the masterminds behind Nepal Hiking Team) for everything you do.
From your grateful clients, Dante & Caleb

I highly recommend the Nepal Hiking Team for anyone planning to trek in Nepal. My spouse and I had a fantastic time on our trek and greatly credit our positive experience to the thought and care put into it by Nepal Hiking Team in coming up with a personalized plan that would enable us to succeed.
Every detail was considered to match us based on our abilities and interests. We also could not have felt more cared for minute to minute by the team that supported us from the minute we arrived in Kathmandu until our departure.
Our guide, Nim, was amazing -- so careful, thoughtful, warm, and supportive. And our porters, Sabin and Ganesh, were delightful. They were all unbelievably generous in terms of how much they worked to ensure we were comfortable and prepared. They thought of every detail along the way.

Our adventure with the Nepal Hiking Team was nothing short of remarkable! We embarked on an exhilarating trek through the Langtang Valley, guided by our expert, Ganga. Boasting an impressive 23 years of experience, Ganga's deep understanding of the terrain was unmatched.
He expertly navigated the balance between adventure and safety, always prioritizing our well-being and ensuring our safety. Beyond his professional skills, Ganga's warm and approachable personality enhanced our journey significantly. We developed a strong bond with him, enriching our trekking experience immensely.
We eagerly anticipate our next adventure and look forward to trekking with Ganga again!

We had an amazing experience and were so glad that we picked this company. After talking with Ganga on the phone for the first time we immediately booked our Langtang trip. Ganga created a customised itinerary for us as we were trekking for the first time in Nepal. He was always prompt in replying to all our queries on WhatsApp. Very rapid and clear communication before we got to Nepal and great service once we arrived. I met other trekkers who also used Nepal Hiking Team and they had similar positive stories to tell about them.
When we reached Katmandu, there was a representative to meet us at the airport and transfer us to our hotel, Woodapple. This was a very nice 3-star hotel with nice clean rooms. It was right in the middle of Thamel where most of the tourist stay, and there are lots of nice cafes and restaurants nearby. This hotel has an amazing rooftop restaurant with great views of Katmandu and the free breakfast is included. We met Ganga, Balaram and our guide Bhim at the hotel. Balaram went over the details of our trip and explained everything. They provided us with sleeping bags and down jackets for our trip.
Our guide Bhim was terrific and we enjoyed his company. He always watched out for our safety along the trail. I would be happy to have him as a guide any time I am in Nepal. He has many years of experience. He was always very patient and guided us with great care. He did a great job of making all the arrangements throughout our trek. Also a big shout out to the porter Ram, he was an absolute hard worker. He would walk ahead of us and would book a room at the next lodge as sometimes they can get filled up early. Throughout the whole trek I felt that I was in good hands, and we did not need to worry about anything and could just relax and enjoy the beauty of Nepal!
Overall, Nepal Hiking Team are probably the best trek organisers out there, offering an excellent overall experience. I would highly recommend them to anyone planning a trek in Nepal, and will definitely be using their services again.
Thank you for this unforgettable experience!

A wonderful and memorable trek!
Right from the start, Ganga and his team were exceptional and responsive, helping us explore alternatives via email.
We traveled as two couples, and everything was seamlessly arranged—from airport pickup, hotel in Kathmandu, and a city tour to transport, permits, tea houses, meals, luggage handling, and airport drop-off.
Our guide, Arjun, was fantastic—thank you! Big thanks also to our porters, R&B!
As for the trek—we absolutely loved it. It wasn’t too crowded, had great variety, and the two peaks at the top of the valley were well worth the effort.
No hesitation in recommending Nepal Hiking Team!

Once you are in Kathmandu, our support includes a representative for airport transfers and a pre-tour briefing where we go over all the details. While our helicopter tours are shorter, you can expect the same level of dedicated service, ensuring your transfer to the airport is smooth and that the tour itself exceeds your expectations.
With decades of collective experience, our team understands the nuances of operating in the Himalayas. For your Langtang Heli Tour, this means we know the optimal flight paths for the best mountain views, the ideal landing spots like Gosaikunda Lake and Kyanjin Gompa, and how to manage logistics flawlessly. Our expertise ensures your safety and maximizes your enjoyment, allowing you to focus on the stunning scenery without any operational worries.
For your Langtang Helicopter tour, you can easily obtain a tourist visa on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. The process involves filling out an online form or a paper form at the airport, paying the visa fee (which varies by duration), and having your passport photo taken. This tour is short, so a 15-day multiple-entry visa is typically sufficient for most travelers. Our representative will be at the airport to assist with your transfer to the hotel, but the visa process is handled directly by the immigration department.
Yes, absolutely. The cost of your Langtang Helicopter tour includes a hotel-to-airport and airport-to-hotel transfer by private car. This service extends to your arrival in Nepal. You will be met at the airport by a representative from Nepal Hiking Team who will assist you and transfer you to your hotel in Kathmandu. This ensures a stress-free start to your trip, allowing you to focus on your upcoming helicopter adventure.
For this 2-hour helicopter tour, your arrival is straightforward. After clearing customs and visa formalities, our representative will greet you. It's important to note that your helicopter tour typically departs in the morning from the same airport you arrived at. Therefore, we recommend arriving at least one day prior to your scheduled tour date to ensure you are well-rested and ready for the early morning departure. We can assist with hotel recommendations and bookings in Kathmandu for your pre-tour stay.
Booking is simple and can be done directly through our website. While the specific deposit amount isn't listed on the page for this package, our standard practice involves a deposit to secure your helicopter charter. You can contact us directly for the exact deposit requirement for your chosen date. The tour is available for a minimum group size of just 1 person, making it flexible for solo travelers or private groups.
Specific cancellation and refund policies for the helicopter charter are not detailed on the package page. However, given the nature of charter flights, cancellations are typically subject to terms that ensure we can cover the helicopter operator's costs. We recommend contacting our team directly for the most accurate and current policy before booking. We are committed to clear communication and will provide you with all the necessary details regarding deposits and any potential refunds.
Yes, you can. The package page notes that the scheduled departures are for group joining options. If the listed dates do not fit your availability, you are encouraged to reach out to our team. We will provide alternative date options and can often arrange a private helicopter tour on a date that suits you best, subject to helicopter and pilot availability.
For this tour, we arrange a private charter helicopter. The total flight time is 2 hours, but the overall experience from pick-up to drop-off will be longer. The tour includes a flight from Kathmandu to Gosaikunda Lake, a landing there, followed by a flight to Kyanjin Gompa, another landing, and finally the return flight to Kathmandu. The specific helicopter model will be one suitable for mountain flying, offering large windows for panoramic views.
The cost of the tour includes a private car transfer from your hotel in Kathmandu to Tribhuvan International Airport for your departure, and then back to your hotel after the tour. Our driver will pick you up from your hotel lobby at a pre-arranged time, ensuring you arrive at the helicopter terminal with plenty of time before your scheduled flight. This service provides a seamless and comfortable experience without the need to arrange your own transport.
Your pilot is also your guide in the air, providing names of all the mountain ranges as they become visible. You'll enjoy breathtaking aerial views of the Kathmandu Valley, pristine rivers, Langtang National Park, and majestic peaks like Dorje Lakpa, Langtang Lirung, and Ganesh Himal. The tour includes two spectacular landings—first near the sacred Gosaikunda Lake and then at the Tamang village of Kyanjin Gompa—allowing you to step out and experience the high Himalayas firsthand.
Gosaikunda Lake is not just a scenic spot; it is a sacred alpine lake with profound religious significance for Hindus. Our tour includes a landing near the lake so you can witness its dark blue, pristine beauty up close. During auspicious festivals like Gangadashahara and Janai Purnima, you would see thousands of pilgrims. This landing allows you to experience the serene and spiritual atmosphere of this holy site, a key highlight of the tour.
Kyanjin Gompa is a charming Tamang village offering spectacular ground-level views of glaciers, Langtang Lirung, Kimshung, and Langshisha Ri. During your time here, you can explore the local area, which includes traditional monasteries, a school, and a local cheese factory. It's a unique opportunity to briefly interact with the local Langtangpa people, known for their warm hospitality, and experience the culture of the Langtang region without undertaking a multi-day trek.
Absolutely. This Langtang Helicopter tour is classified as "Easy" in difficulty. It is designed for anyone who wants to experience the beauty of the Langtang region without any physical trekking. The main activities are sitting in the helicopter and short walks at the landing sites near Gosaikunda Lake and Kyanjin Gompa. It is perfect for those with limited time, physical limitations, or anyone who simply prefers to enjoy the mountain scenery from the air and with minimal exertion.
Yes, this tour is highly suitable. There is no strenuous activity involved. The main challenge is boarding and disembarking the helicopter, which our pilot and ground staff can assist with. The landings are at high altitudes (Gosaikunda Lake is at 4,380m/14,370ft), but the exposure is brief. If you can manage a short, easy walk at altitude, you will be able to enjoy this tour. It's an excellent way for those who may not be able to undertake a trek to still witness the majestic Himalayas.
The tour can operate with a minimum of just 1 person. This makes it an ideal private experience for solo travelers, couples, or small groups. Whether you want a private tour or are open to joining a group (if dates align), we can accommodate your preference. The helicopter charter is for your group exclusively, ensuring a personalized and intimate experience.
Your safety is our utmost priority. The helicopter operators we partner with are experienced in high-altitude mountain flying. The pilot is highly skilled and will provide a safety briefing before the flight. Landings at Gosaikunda and Kyanjin Gompa are made at designated safe zones. Our team monitors weather conditions closely, and if conditions are deemed unsafe, the flight will be rescheduled or canceled with your safety as the primary consideration.
While the tour does not involve trekking, the landing sites are at significant altitudes, with Gosaikunda Lake at approximately 4,380 meters (14,370 feet). The exposure at this altitude is brief. However, it's important to be aware of the potential for mild altitude-related effects. We recommend moving slowly and gently during the ground time. The total time at the highest points is limited, which significantly reduces the risk. Your pilot and guide will also be attentive to your well-being.
Please inform your pilot immediately if you feel any discomfort, such as dizziness, headache, or nausea. The pilot can take necessary actions, which may include returning to a lower altitude or back to Kathmandu. Given the short duration of the tour and the constant communication, any concerns can be addressed swiftly. Your well-being is our primary concern, and we are equipped to handle such situations professionally.
Even though it's a short tour, conditions at the landing sites can be cold and windy due to the high altitude. We recommend wearing comfortable, layered clothing. A warm jacket, a windproof outer layer, comfortable pants, and sturdy, closed-toe shoes are essential. Sunglasses and sunscreen are also highly recommended due to the intense glare from the snow and high-altitude sun. You don't need trekking gear like sleeping bags or down jackets for this tour, as no overnight stay is involved.
No specialized trekking equipment is required for this tour. The package does not include or require items like sleeping bags, down jackets, or trekking poles. You are simply a passenger on a scenic flight with two short stops. The main focus is on comfortable, warm clothing to enjoy your time at the landing sites. Cameras and binoculars are highly recommended to capture the stunning views.
As this is a short scenic charter flight, there is typically no need for large luggage. You are allowed to bring a small daypack with your personal items like a camera, jacket, and water. For the transfer from your hotel, you will not be carrying your main luggage with you to the helicopter. The focus is on the flight and the experience, so we recommend traveling light for the tour itself.
No, accommodation is not included in the package cost. The "Cost Includes" section specifies hotel-to-airport transfers, the helicopter charter, and government taxes. Meals and accommodation are listed under "Cost Excludes." You are responsible for arranging your own accommodation in Kathmandu before and after the tour. We can provide recommendations or assist with booking if needed.
Mobile network connectivity in remote areas like Gosaikunda Lake and Kyanjin Gompa is unreliable and often non-existent. You should not expect to have phone or internet access during the landings. Your main connectivity will be in Kathmandu before and after the tour. This is a great opportunity to disconnect and fully immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the Himalayas.
While not included, you can choose from a wide range of hotels in Kathmandu, particularly in the Thamel area, which is the tourist hub. Based on past traveler experiences, our clients have stayed at hotels like the Woodapple, which offers clean rooms and a great rooftop restaurant. We can assist in recommending or booking a hotel that suits your preference and budget for your stay.
No, meals are not included in the cost of the Langtang Helicopter tour. The package explicitly lists "Accommodation, meals and any other expenses which are not specified on cost includes" under the "Cost Excludes" section. You are responsible for your own meals in Kathmandu before and after the tour. No meals are provided during the 2-hour tour itself.
At the landing sites, there are no restaurants or shops immediately available for purchasing food or drinks. The landings are brief and focused on sightseeing. We highly recommend you have a good breakfast at your hotel in Kathmandu before departure. You should also bring your own water in a reusable bottle to stay hydrated during the tour, especially considering the altitude at the landing points.
At high altitudes like Gosaikunda Lake (4,380m), it is important to stay hydrated to help your body acclimatize. We strongly advise you to bring a bottle of water with you from Kathmandu. Drinking sufficient water during the brief ground time will help minimize any potential effects of the altitude, such as a mild headache. Avoid alcohol the night before the tour to ensure you are well-hydrated for the flight.
Yes, the Langtang Helicopter tour is highly customizable for private groups. The package lists a minimum group size of 1, meaning the helicopter can be chartered exclusively for you, your family, or your friends. This allows for a fully private experience with a flexible itinerary based on your group's interests, such as spending more time at a landing site. For private charters, you can also choose your own date, subject to availability.
A private tour offers ultimate flexibility, privacy, and a personalized experience. You have the helicopter exclusively for your group, allowing you to control the pace and focus of the tour. It is ideal for families, special occasions, or those seeking a more intimate journey. A group joining option (if available on scheduled dates) can be more cost-effective, as the charter cost is shared among participants. However, the itinerary and timing are fixed for the group. Our team can advise you on the best option based on your budget and preferences.
Tipping is not included in the package cost but is a customary way to show appreciation for excellent service. For a helicopter tour, it is common to tip the pilot if you feel the service was outstanding. While the package page doesn't specify exact percentages, a standard gratuity of 5-10% of the tour cost, or a reasonable amount based on your satisfaction, is a thoughtful gesture. Our ground staff who manage your transfers also appreciate recognition for their support.
