Traveller Review

  • High three passes Everest + Ebc

My partner and I We weren't sure what to expect from this trip, how hard it would be, how the body would be at high altitudes having never been there before. From the moment we left the airport, our guide Raj was by our side until the end of this journey, accompanying us, supporting us and helping us to clear some doubts. In addition to being a guide, he was a companion-friend for chats and playing cards in the evening of dumbal and Romi (Nepalese games that he taught us).

Our adventure begins in Lukla, and we meet our Porter Subash, another essential teammate without whom we would never have been able to complete everything on our own. He really was the superman of the situation and we thank him very much for what he did for us, he is always smiling and kind, and all 4 of us moved together as if we were a family.

We reach our first 4000, the altitude makes itself felt, and Raj has always been ready and willing to help us and advise us on how to proceed and what to do. He had brought Diamox with him in case we wanted to try it, but fortunately, acclimatization took its course, and over the next few days, the body adapted better and better.

The tour of the three passes was a complex trek, with many hours of walking and a lot of effort, many wake-up calls at dawn, and a lot of adaptability, as our guide Raj said, you have to be positive, courageous and determined with the goal in head to complete it. We live in the mountains and we are used to walking and climbing a lot of altitude. From our point of view, it is not a trek with difficult paths or tracks and a complex altitude difference, but with the high altitude, everything becomes more difficult.

Precisely for this reason, I think the tour recommended by the company was the better choice than doing it in the other direction as the difference in height to tackle the passes is reduced. We recommend that you bring snacks with you throughout the trip and that you have cash in rupees to take any extra food, as the walks are long, the effort a lot and hunger the same :) however, the guide will be able to give you all the advice.

I also suggest perhaps a water bottle filter the water to save money and avoid buying bottles in the lodges for the whole trek and a power bank since the top-ups at altitude are high and are valid for a single device. However, All the effort is repaid enormously by the landscapes seen that I will never forget. Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Lothse, Choyu, Everest, and all their glacial valleys are there before your eyes altogether. It was an experience that I will carry with me forever, and to make it even more pleasant and perfect were the people who made it possible (the company was always available from the start and always answered my questions by email, changing the itinerary according to my requests) and who accompanied us. We thank Subash and Raj again for their commitment and for the attention shown to the whole Nepal Hiking Team and to us. Namaste and Dhanyabad.

  • The Best Trekking Adventure in my life

This trek was the best trekking experience I've ever had. The Nepal Hiking Team organized a guide and a supporter who together made this trek an unforgettable adventure. I undertook the ABC Annapurna Base Camp trek. Along the way, we became friends - Bhisma, my guide, took care of everything, including selecting teahouses/lodges for our overnight stays that were comfortable and not overcrowded, considering all my needs. My supporter, Prabin, learned how to use my camera during the trek and became a close buddy as well.

Traveling alone gave me the advantage of immersing myself in the family lives of some local people on the trek. Their open minds and friendly manners made all interactions welcoming.

Describing the trek's breathtaking views is difficult. My specific wishes regarding photography were fully accommodated. I always had at least one of the two companions by my side, ensuring I always felt safe and secure. Even the teahouses, where room sharing is common, were perfectly organized. Bhisma proactively made contact with other groups we met, arranging shared rooms, which led to friendships with other wonderful people who were also comfortable sharing space with me.

The trek, which began and ended in Kathmandu, was exceptional, always under the 'supervision' of my friend Bhisma. Now, I understand the high ratings for the Nepal Hiking Team on TripAdvisor. They combined the perfect organization with the perfect people to fulfill their promises.

A special thank you to Ganga for organizing such outstanding trips with exceptional service and people.

Lastly, I must mention that my first booking with the Nepal Hiking Team was in 2020. I made a down payment but had to cancel due to Covid. They promised to keep it valid for a lifetime, and they honored this promise without any need for additional insurance or usual formalities.

  • Annapurna Circuit Trek with Great team

Well, where to begin, we were a family of 4 ranging in age from nearly 30 to over 65 so this could have been an issue. However, Nepal Hiking Team ensured we were always prepared and able to do the challenging days along the way. We did 14 days of hiking and walked 204Kms and took 336,760 steps - if you believe my watch. We had a wonderful team without whom we would not have been able to complete the hike.

Head Guide and Captain of the team Visma was always looking after our needs and ensuring we started at the correct time to avoid wind, snow or rain in the evening and also kept us confident that we would be able for the days challenges and especially to cross Thorong La Pass. Our assistant Guide Gavinder kept a close eye on us and advised when to take water breaks and also saw we had enough to eat. We had two amazing porters who carried our bags over the entire route - including over the pass which was a serious physical challenge - they did this and always greeted us at our accommodation every night - well done to Kumar and Tuk, you were super. The tea houses exceeded our expectations and the food was always freshly prepared and they made sure my specific needs were catered for.

Yes, there were a few long days - one day we did 27Kms - thankfully much of it at lower altitudes. We didn't do the shortened route that is available using jeeps, we felt you have to do it start to finish! Following the flooding in Dubai our flights were completely messed up, in fact two of the party disappeared from the flight booking of Emirates and never reappeared this led to several visits to the challenging airport in Kathmandu - Visma turned up each time to help out, above and beyond the call of duty and after his role with us was well and truly over - such commitment.
