Traveller Review

  • Annapurna Base Camp including Poon Hill Trek

This was my second trek with Nepal Hiking Team, and yet again we were very impressed with the professionalism and very well-organized process from booking to completion.

We had Raj as our trek guide who was awesome and had a wealth of knowledge of all things about the trek, peaks, traditions, and the myriad of questions we threw at him. He was supported by two great porters Gokul and Bikash.

The trek is rated as medium, but as a group fit over 55’s, we would say this trek is tough. An endless supply of steps to ascend and descend but the views at ABC made it all worthwhile. May was a great time to trek as it’s not as busy.

  • Everest Base Camp Trek with NHT

I completed 16 days of Everest Base Camp Trek and had an incredible experience! Ganga helped create a custom itinerary with family joining me for the Kathmandu sightseeing tour after the trek. This was my first trek in Nepal. Ganga was very responsive and answered all my questions. The best thing I liked about Ganga was that he provided realistic/practical advice, ensuring my goals were achievable given my current fitness level and experience. His goal was my success instead of selling everything possible, which I really liked and made me decide to go with Nepal Hiking Team.

I was received by a guide at Kathmandu airport and taken to the hotel WoodApple in Thamel. It was great meeting Ganga in person. I was briefed about the trek plan and was provided with a duffel bag, down jacket, and sleeping bag. I spent my second day packing and street shopping in Thamel. Gaga also gave me the good news that he could secure a flight from Kathmandu to Lukla (instead of taking a bus ride to Ramechhap and then taking a flight to Lukla).

I started my EBC trek on day 3. One of the guides accompanied me from Kathmandu to Lukla. At Lukla, I met my hiking guide Rajesh and porter Tulsi. I reached EBC on day ten as planned and returned to Kathmandu on day 14. My guide, Rajesh, was very knowledgeable, experienced, and fun. He had in-depth knowledge of the area, peaks, ranges, trails, festivals, history, and culture. He went above and beyond to make sure that everything was perfect. He secured excellent accommodation throughout the trek with healthy and tasty food. I'm also thankful to him for taking great pictures and videos throughout the trek. He took safety very seriously throughout the trip, ensuring, among other things, that altitude sickness did not become an issue. He was very motivating but never pushing, something I really liked. I'll definitely ask for Rajesh to be my guide for my next trek.

This review can't be complete without thanking our porter, Tulsi. Tulsi was amazing. He even waited for us when I forgot to take my medicines from the duffel bag. Porters are superhumans, and this trip would not have been complete without him.

While I was finishing my EBC trek, my family arrived in Kathmandu. The guide greeted them at the airport and took them to the hotel. Guide Padam gave me and my family a grand tour of Kathmandu.

Overall, we had an incredible trip, and I am very impressed with the Nepal Hiking team. I will definitely book my trip again with them.

  • A wonderful secluded trekking up in the mountains

Suggested to me by Balaram, I underwent the Khopra ridge trek in the month of March and enjoyed every moment of my journey. It presented with an alternate journey and trekking trail which deviated from the regular trail of Ghorepani and Poon Hill. I had discussed with Balaram about my need to go on a trekking journey that would not have all that many trekkers and the Khopra ridge trek was presented. Because of its alternate and off-the-beaten-paths trail, I was tempted to undergo the trek. And the trekking journey certainly did not disappoint. The isolated village along the Khopra ridge is extremely beautiful and I loved my visit to the Kali Gandaki gorge. With Balaram’s timely help and my guide, Arun’s professional work, my trekking journey along this beautiful terrain was a tremendous success and a comfortable journey. The small lodge that was arranged for me along the trail was comfortable. Albeit lacking hot water or much of grandeur services, the stay was pleasant and added to the journey rather than take away from it. But of curse, it is to be expected from such a isolated place. The whole trekking was arranged in the most efficient of ways and the care that Balaram showed while helping me along the trek was admirable. Nepal Hiking Team is the best trekking agency that I had worked with and it clearly shows on their brilliant services and amazing team and staff members.

  • Manaslu Circuit in team of 5x50

We made a 14-day Manaslu Circuit incl. transportation from Kathmandu to the trek start and to Pokhara after the trek. That included 3 side treks to Himalchuli Base Camp, Manaslu Base Camp, Rui La Pass (Tibetan border).

We are a group of 5 high school friends turning 50 this year that reconnected after many years.

From the very beginning we got a very professional service from Ganga who was achievable, responsive, flexible, provided suggestion, etc. That standard was kept by him throughout and after the trek.

Our guide Krishna turned to be a unique young person. Perfectly organized, very responsible, maturely reacting to unexpected challenges that are inevitable taking into account nature, team and length of the trek. At the same time professionally relaxed and making good team spirit, ensuring everyone and everything is OK. We could feel all the time we are in good hands and could enjoy the unique experience. He also managed to organize on the way a few elements that were not certain and we treated them as 'best case scenario', like 2 nights in the Buddhist monastery being a base for us to make the Himalchuli Base Camp 1-day side trek. I myself made the Annapurna Circuit exactly 25 years earlier when we organized everything ourselves and had no guide or porters so in the beginning I was even a bit embarrassed how caring and committed Krishna and the 3 porters were.

Finally we all made the trek exactly according to the daily itinerary. That was a splendid experience that we'll for sure remember forever. Highly recommended!
