Our accommodation in Kathmandu surpassed our expectations, and the day tour exceeded our hopes as well. The mini-bus transits to the airport at 2:30 am were long and tiring, but unfortunately unavoidable.
The trek itself was fantastic. We had the opportunity to share a couple of days with fellow Everest Base Camp trekkers before thankfully parting ways with them. This allowed us to enjoy a more peaceful and breathtaking experience. The Gokyo Lakes were absolutely stunning, and the ascent to Gokyo Ri, although steep, was short and rewarded us with magnificent views at the summit.
Renjo La Pass was nothing short of marvelous. The vistas overlooking the Everest region and the numerous 8,000-meter peaks were awe-inspiring. Descending into the next valley was a definite highlight, offering us two days of isolation and spectacular scenery.
All the tea houses we stayed at were satisfactory, meeting our basic needs. However, we did encounter some challenges along the way. One member of our group had to be evacuated by helicopter due to acute mountain sickness (AMS). Additionally, another member experienced a mild case of cerebral edema, resulting in headaches and vomiting. Thankfully, their symptoms subsided upon descending to lower altitudes. These incidents serve as a reminder that trekking in this region is not without risks.
Ganga continued to communicate with the evacuated member and efficiently arranged all the necessary support while they were in the hospital. We truly appreciated his dedication and professionalism.
Based on our overall experience, we would gladly choose this company again for future adventures.
