My husband and I have recently returned from doing the Everest Base Camp Trek with Nepal Hiking Team - and we couldn't be more happy with the service, professionalism and help the whole company provided both before and during our trip. Ganga was great before the trip, promptly answering any questions we had and clearly explaining how everything would work. From the moment we arrived in Kathmandu we were in good hands, being collected from the airport and taken directly to our hotel. Our guide Raj was friendly, calm and knowledgeable throughout the trek - making sure we stayed in the best possible places and we always looked after first when it came to meals etc. Even the porters were lovely (Abishek and Bodh Raj) and went out of their way at all times to make sure they provided the very best service. But the real test came when I got sick at 4400m in Dingboche and had to have a helicopter arranged to evacuate me from the mountain.
The team worked quickly and efficiently to have this arranged and I was taken off the mountain where I was met on the tarmac of Kathmandu airport by NHT representatives who showed me to a waiting ambulance. I was then taken to a private clinic where I received very good care. Ganga himself came to check in on me a few times and seemed very concerned for my welfare. After I was discharged from hospital Hari and Balaram took such great care of me - they arranged private transportation to a hotel back in Thamel and always made sure I was comfortable.
Even when the hotel I had originally been booked into turned out being a bit noisy (it was just near a bar that played live music) and I mentioned it to them they promptly had me changed to a nicer (and much quieter) hotel. They did not even charge us for the extra days I spent in the hotel (rather than being on the trek). They continued to check in on us and even provided a return airport transfer when we were ready to fly home. Hari and Balaram were so friendly and professional and efficient, I really can't say enough good things about them and don't know what I would have done without them.
All in all, a great operation that I would have no hesitation in recommending to anyone going to Nepal and/or doing the base camp trek. Thanks so much!!
