Had a truly great time in the mountains with the Nepal Hiking Team. Arrived from the Pacific Northwest with my boomer mom to trek to Everest Base Camp. (Made it.)
Our group included four other ladies who’d met in college and were reconnecting. Was tough going at times but the NHT crew led us well. Our guides and porters were professional, kind, generous, and attentive. Their work was difficult—carrying our extra stuff, monitoring our conditions as we gained altitude, maintaining morale if/when it flagged, teaching us about Nepali and Sherpa culture, and showing us the way—and they all performed legendarily.
Ganga and Raj put a lot of thought into making our trek enjoyable. They took great care of my mom and were very proactive with those who faced any altitude-related issues.
I’m no world traveler or experienced backpacker, but this trip felt particularly fun and special. It awakened in me a far greater curiosity for travel. The mountain experience—organized by Ganga and led by Raj and his team of guides and porters—will be a cherished memory.
Our NHT crew were all good people. I enjoyed their company and guidance immensely. We fly home this evening from Kathmandu, and I’m already excited to return with friends, family, or solo. I look forward to trekking with NHT, Ganga, and Raj again.
