Annapurna Base Camp Trekking Route Overview
The Annapurna Base Camp trek begins with a 6-7 hour drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara, where you will stay overnight. Then, it continues to Birethanti, where the real trek starts.
Then the trail gradually climbs through terraced fields and stone villages to Ulleri, where you tackle 3,300 stone steps. The route further leads you to Ghorepani, a popular overnight stop at the junction of the ancient trade routes. Early in the morning, before breakfast, you hike to Poon Hill for sweeping sunrise views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. You can see more than 18 countable Himalayan peaks from Poon Hill.
The path passes through Chuile to Chomrong, a typical Gurung village renowned for producing Gurkha soldiers. Here, the trail becomes narrower as it follows the Modi River deeper into the Annapurna Sanctuary. Then, pass through varying vegetation and teahouse settlements such as Bamboo and Deurali.
The next major landmark is Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3,700 m), which is near the unique Fishtail Mountain and the surrounding Annapurna range. From MBC, it is a final effort to reach Annapurna Base Camp, standing at 4,130 meters. Here, you will be surrounded by a complete amphitheater of mountains, including Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Machhapuchhre. You can capture the memories by clicking pictures with your loved ones, fellow trekkers, and guides, and observe the mountain's beauty that will last a lifetime.
After celebrating your arrival and spending the night at base camp, you'll descend through the same route. It’s a detour to Jhinu Danda, where natural hot springs provide a relaxing break for tired muscles. A brief hike from the hot springs takes you to the roadside, where a Jeep ride returns you to Pokhara. The walk ends with your journey back to Kathmandu, completing the whole ABC trek.

Best Seasons for Annapurna Base Camp Trek
While it's possible to trek to Annapurna Base Camp in any season, certain times of year present more ideal circumstances for hikers. Learning about the different seasonal characteristics will allow you to determine the most suitable period for your journey.
Spring (March to May): Spring is one of the most perfect times for the Annapurna Base Camp trek. You'll experience comfortable temperatures averaging 17°C, with days warming up to 20°C to 22°C and evenings at 5°C to 10°C. Nights get pretty cold, dropping to -8°C at higher elevations. You’ll get to see crystal-clear skies and the incredible rhododendron blooms painting the hillsides. However, trails can get crowded, and you'll need to book teahouses well in advance.
Autumn (September to November): Autumn offers fantastic trekking conditions, with temperatures ranging from 15 to 17°C and jaw-dropping mountain views. You get to experience incredible culture while trekking during Nepal’s biggest festivals, Dashain and Tihar. However, be aware of potential surprise rain showers and snowfall if you plan to hike later in the season.
Winter (December to February): Winter transforms the ABC trek into a serious challenge. During the daytime, the temperature can reach 9 to 12°C on sunny days and drop to -15 to 20°C overnight. With snow blankets covering everything, the mountain views are postcard-perfect. February hits the hardest with excessive cold. This season requires serious preparation, including multi-layered clothing, winter-grade gear, and possibly crampons.
Summer/Monsoon (June to August): Summer in the Annapurna region falls between the pleasant temperatures of 18-25°C, but it also comes with Nepal's infamous monsoon rains. It’s a perfect time for trekkers who love plants and animals, with rich vegetation and active wildlife everywhere. However, landslide risks, flooding potential, and leeches make this time a little unfavorable during this season.

Early Booking Advantage: Booking in advance ensures you get our most skilled guides and comfortable accommodation in Kathmandu. It also provides access to the best accommodation throughout the ABC trek, even during the peak season.
Currency Planning: Be sure to bring enough Nepali rupees or exchange them to cover your costs, such as snacks, Wi-Fi, device charging, hot showers, and souvenirs. It’s best to plan all these as banking services are often unreliable in the higher altitudes of the Annapurna Sanctuary. Trekkers can use reliable ATM facilities in Kathmandu and Pokhara. However, you may have to face technical issues if you decide to use ATMs besides these advanced cities.
Physical Preparation: Get ready for your Annapurna Base Camp Trek by building stamina with hikes, jogs, and stair climbing. These boost your heart and lung strength for the ABC height of 4,130 meters. Wear your trekking boots on practice hikes to break them in before directly going for the ABC trek.
Electricity on the ABC Trek: Electricity is available at most teahouses along the Annapurna Base Camp trek, but it comes with limitations. As power is generated through small hydro plants or solar panels, it’s not always reliable during bad weather. Charging your devices often costs extra, and the outlets can be limited, so it’s wise to bring a power bank and charge whenever you get the chance. Electricity and charging points are usually available in the rooms up to Chhomrong (but not always the case). Beyond that, charging is typically done in the dining areas only.
Cultural Experiences: You will pass through Gurung and Magar villages in the Annapurna Conservation Area, where you will be served by their warm hospitality and get to know about their culture and traditions. Meeting locals and sharing dal bhat in tea houses turns your Nepal Annapurna Base Camp Trek into a cultural journey. The Gurung people often arrive with yaks and mules, their animals adorned with bells that ring cheerfully as they walk. In the Ghorepani area, they sometimes play their traditional madal and dance, but this doesn’t happen every day.
Trail Conditions: The ABC Trek offers a clear, beginner-friendly trekking trail in the Annapurna region, perfect for all trekkers. You’ll pass through dense forests, terraced fields, and local villages, and steep climbs near the Annapurna Base Camp, at an elevation of 4,130 meters, are balanced by cozy teahouses offering rest and spectacular views.
Accommodation: You'll stay in lodge accommodations on a twin-sharing basis until you reach Chhomrong. Once you go beyond Chhomrong, you'll be in dormitory-style accommodations shared with 3 to 4 other trekkers. The toilet facilities are conveniently located just outside the teahouses, offering both Western-style and squat toilets. Even if you're on a solo trip or have booked a private trek, securing a room during busy seasons is challenging due to the limited bed space at higher elevations.
Communication Setup: Consider purchasing a local SIM card from providers like Ncell or NTC during the Annapurna Base Camp Trek. These SIM cards are easy to find near airports or hotels and offer dependable mobile coverage along most parts of the route. NTC (Nepal Telecom) is the most preferred network in the Annapurna region, though in some areas along the path, there might be no signal at all.
Surprising Realities on the Annapurna Base Camp Trek
This trek to Annapurna Base Camp lets you pass through Nepal’s Annapurna Conservation Area, blending spectacular views of the Annapurna massif with rich cultural encounters. However, the Nepal Annapurna Base Camp Trek has some unexpected twists that trekkers should be aware of. Hereby given is the short list of surprising realities we have prepared for you so that we will be ready for this trek from your side too:
No Meats Beyond Sinuwa, Veggie Power Zone:
Once you pass Sinuwa, forget about non-veg dishes, as meat is entirely off the menu. And also, you are not even allowed to bring any kind of meat item in your lunchbox. The locals consider the Annapurna Sanctuary sacred territory, and bringing meat beyond this point would be disrespectful to the mountain gods. This works out better anyway since your body struggles to digest meat at high altitude.
Mad Honey Near Dovan and Cliffs of Deurali:
You can see massive beehives hanging off the cliff faces near Dovan and Hinku Cave. These are the world's largest honeybees that build their homes on terrifying vertical cliffs. The honey they produce is called "mad honey" because it comes from rhododendron flowers that contain natural toxins. Local honey hunters risk their lives dangling from ropes to harvest this stuff, which has been used as medicine for centuries. In the Annapurna region's teahouses, you'll often see wild honeycomb pieces that have been cleaned and dried, hanging on walls or displayed in corners. Local teahouse owners take pride in showing off these rustic decorations.
Sorry, Plastic! Bottles Banned on Annapurna Base Camp Trekking Area:
Bring along a reusable water bottle for your Annapurna Base Camp Trek. Please note that plastic water bottles are forbidden on the ABC route to help preserve the Annapurna Conservation Area. This is a regulation that is strictly made to maintain the cleanliness of the Annapurna trekking route. Locals will be more than happy to refill your bottle with boiled water for a nominal charge. Sometimes, you can even find tea houses that offer free refills to guests staying at their places.
Soak and Chill: Jhinu Danda’s Natural Hot Springs:
Jhinu Danda's hot springs maintain a temperature of around 40°C year-round due to geothermal activity underground. It feels soothing to bathe in the hot springs, especially when you are walking on the trek for days on ABC route. The hot water works wonders on sore muscles and worn feet.
Double the Adventure: Two Base Camps, One Epic Trek:
You’ll get to visit two base camps for the price of one. First up is Machhapuchhre Base Camp at 3,700 meters, where you'll get jaw-dropping views of the sacred Fishtail Mountain. You’ll get to be here for around 30 minutes to an hour.
Then there's Annapurna Base Camp at 4,130 meters, surrounded by massive peaks. Each base camp offers completely different perspectives of the mountains. The two-camp system also helps your body adjust to the altitude gradually.
Step Into Nepal’s Largest Conservation Area:
You will trek through the Annapurna Conservation Area, which is the largest conservation area at 7,629 square kilometers. A diverse range of landscapes, from subtropical jungles to high-altitude deserts, is located here. If you're lucky, you might spot red pandas, snow leopards, or hundreds of bird species.
Machhapuchhre (translating to 'Fishtail Mountain' in the Nepali language) is one of the few major peaks in Nepal that nobody has ever climbed. It has been officially off-limits since 1957 because locals consider it sacred, as the Hindu god Shiva is believed to reside there. A British team got within 50 meters of the summit in 1957 but stopped out of respect for local beliefs.
Rhododendron Wonderland: Ghorepani in Bloom while Annapurna rises:
Trekking in the spring transforms Ghorepani into a breathtaking sight. Some rhododendron trees are over 500 years old and tower 20-25 meters high. Nepal's national flower blooms in vibrant shades of red, pink, white, and purple, creating a natural fireworks display across the hillsides. This is part of the world's largest rhododendron forest, with over eight different species.
Stand Beneath the World’s 10th-Highest Giant:
Annapurna I rises 8,091 meters above sea level, making it the 10th-tallest mountain on Earth. From base camp, this massive wall of ice and rock can look up nearly 4,000 meters directly above you. It is one of the most dangerous mountains. The fatality rate is 32%, which is even higher than that of Mount Everest. Standing at Annapurna Base Camp at a height of 4,130 meters, encircled by the towering Annapurna massif, you’ll feel small yet deeply honored to witness such majesty.
Explore Hinku Cave, Nature’s Cliffside Hideout:
Between Deurali and Machhapuchhre Base Camp, you'll find Hinku Cave carved into the cliffside. This natural rock shelter has saved countless trekkers from sudden storms and harsh weather over the years in the Annapurna expedition. The cave is big enough for several people to sleep in and has been used by travelers for generations.
Starry Nights and Stunning Views at ABC:
At 4,130 meters, Annapurna Base Camp offers some of the clearest night skies you'll ever see. The stars appear incredibly bright at night due to no pollution. The Milky Way stretches across the sky like a cosmic highway, and you can witness the view of the same sky that you might never have seen before.
Annapurna Base Camp 7 Days:
The standard ABC trek can be completed in 7 days for fit trekkers, but this isn't very pleasant. This schedule doesn't include rest days and requires good fitness levels. That’s why we recommend most people take about 10 to 14 days to enjoy the overall Annapurna experience without rushing.
Meet the Nepali Citizen: More Smiles, More Stories:
The people you'll meet along the ABC trek are what make the experience truly special. You'll encounter teahouse owners and local villagers who are always ready to share stories about mountain life. What many foreign trekkers don't realize is that lots of native Nepali people also trek to ABC, so you'll meet fellow hikers from this country.

Nepal Annapurna Base Camp Trek
We discovered for ourselves why Nepal Hiking Team was the best tour operator in Nepal. Being a group of 6 non-regular hikers with differing fitness levels, and with very restrictive company leave policies, we wrote to NHT (Mr Ganga) to ask if it was possible to climb to Annapurna Base Camp in 9 days. Mr Ganga not only patiently answered our queries (through more than 30 emails!), but he also managed to craft the perfect itinerary for us, including calibrated route lengths each day, and ample R&R time in Kathmandu and Pokhara pre- and post-trek. We greatly appreciated his patience and dedication in making our trek work within our time constraints.
NHT's two guides, Deepak and Bishal, were the best local guides we could ever ask for. They were professional in guiding us through the trek, taking close care of us despite our differing paces, and attending to our every need such as getting food and water promptly. They skillfully adjusted our itinerary on the fly based on our projected paces by calling ahead to guesthouses to plan our accommodations. Most importantly, they were like our great friends chatting to us, keeping our morale high, and accompanying us for great food during our R&Rs Halfway through, when 4/6 of our team developed knee pain from the brutal route, they immediately sourced horses and helped them down the path safe and sound.
I cannot recommend NHT, Mr Ganga, and Mr Deepak / Bishal enough! If we get a chance to return to Nepal, I won't hesitate at all to reach out to them again.

Unbelievable 11-Day Trek to Annapurna Base Camp
I can't say enough about the whole team at Nepal Hiking Team. They really made my trek unforgettable. Ganga and will answer any question you might have within a few hours. They picked me up at the airport and arranged everything. ABC is a great trek, and I loved everything about it. I was fortunate enough to accompany Arjun, who was a seasoned guide and an even better person.
Lam, my porter, was great as well. They really go out of their way to personalize the trek based on your needs and interests. I saw many of the other companies along the route, and they all seemed nice. However, it was pretty clear that this company goes even more above and beyond. I would highly recommend them.

Annapurna Base Camp Trekking - 2025
In April 2025, I completed the Annapurna with a friend. It was an incredible experience for the stunning landscapes we traveled through, but also thanks to our guide Dilman and porter Ratna, who made the journey even more special. They took exceptional care of us, always listened carefully to our concerns, and gave us confidence and reassurance, especially when we faced snowfall on the way to Thorong La Pass. The trip was a success because of them.
I'd also like to acknowledge Balaram, the manager. Excellent professionals like these are what make this company truly outstanding. I'm very grateful and I love Nepal!

Annapurna Base Camp Trek - 14 days
Not long ago, I accomplished a trek to Annappurna Base Camp with one of the fantastic guides, Surya Rokaya. Even though the trek to ABC was challenging, the guide and company took fabulous care of us throughout the entire time.
Our guide never walked too far ahead when we were going slow—something we really appreciated, especially after seeing other guides leave their groups behind. The whole trip was smooth from start to finish.
This was my second trek with Nepal Hiking Team, and I’d happily go with them again. I’d recommend them to anyone thinking about trekking in Nepal!

Annapurna Base Camp 11 days Trek
We recently completed an 11-day trek to Annapurna Base Camp with Nepali Hiking Team, and it was an incredible experience. I highly recommend this group for any of their tours.
We arranged our own accommodation in Kathmandu, and the team from Nepali Hiking Team met us at our hotel. From there, they took care of everything. Our guide, Prakash Sapkota, and our porter, Mr. Gokul, were experts in every aspect of the trek. They briefed us on the next day's itinerary each evening, making mornings a breeze. They were particularly attentive when my friend caught a cold midway through. Prakash knew exactly where to find the necessary medicine, allowing us to continue with minimal disruption.
The evenings were a highlight, learning and playing Nepali card games like Kitti and Dhumbal. I suggest picking up the rules to these games and bringing a deck of cards—it really helps the time fly by.
I’m certain we wouldn’t have made it without Prakash and Gokul. If you’re considering a trek to ABC, I can’t recommend Nepali Hiking Team and their attentive staff enough.

Trek Difficulty: Who Can Trek?
How difficult is the Annapurna Base Camp Trek?
The ABC Trek is considered moderately complex, making it suitable for those who are physically fit. Travelers should be prepared for a significant amount of steep uphill and downhill walking along the way, which requires good cardiovascular stamina and leg strength.
How long is the ABC Trek?
You need to walk around 84 to 94 km (52 to 58 miles) during the entire Annapurna Base Camp Trek from Birethanti to Samrung (Jhinu Danda). This takes you through stunning terrain, including dense rhododendron forests and dramatic alpine landscapes.
Is there an age limit for the Annapurna Base Camp Trek?
There's no official age limit for this trek. We've successfully taken kids ranging from 4-year-olds up to 70-year-old elders and older. Since you will have to deal with high altitude throughout the journey, you need to be healthy.
We offer a specialized Annapurna Base Camp program designed specifically for seniors and children, ensuring everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience. Children under 16 must have their parents accompany them on the trek for safety reasons.
How to prepare physically for the Annapurna Base Camp?
Start your training at least two weeks before departure by focusing on cardio exercises like stair climbing, jogging, and weekly 5-6 hour hikes with a loaded backpack. This helps you build the endurance you'll need for long trekking days.
Make sure to break in your hiking boots during training to avoid blisters and strengthen your legs and core. Develop strong willpower and a positive mindset because the trek will challenge you mentally when you're tired, cold, or dealing with altitude effects.
Trekker’s Well-Being & Safety
Do I need travel insurance for the ABC Trek?
Yes, you need travel insurance for the Annapurna Base Camp. Your policy has to cover high-altitude trekking up to 5,000 meters, emergency evacuation, and helicopter rescue.
We suggest getting your coverage through well-established international insurers like Genki Traveler, AXA Travel Insurance, Allianz Travel Insurance, or World Nomads. These companies understand the specific risks of high-altitude trekking and have proven track records of actually paying out claims when trekkers need help.
We've compiled a detailed list of recommended insurance providers, based on honest feedback from our past clients, to help you better understand the options available.
What safety measures do your guides take on the trek?
Our licensed trekking leaders bring years of expertise to your Annapurna Base Camp Trek. They carry first aid kits and oximeters to check your oxygen levels regularly on the Annapurna trekking trail. Trained for tough mountain conditions, they ensure your safety. We select clean, reliable tea houses in the Annapurna Conservation Area and arrange swift helicopter evacuations for emergencies.
What is the best time for the ABC Trek?
The best seasons for ABC Trek are during spring (March through May) and autumn (September through November). These months give you the most reliable weather, crystal-clear mountain views, and comfortable trekking conditions throughout the Annapurna region. You'll avoid the heavy monsoon rains of summer and the harsh winter conditions that can make the higher elevations a bit uncomfortable.
Can I hike to Annapurna Base Camp during summer and winter?
You can hike the Annapurna Base Camp Trek in summer or winter, but it’s not easy. Summer monsoons bring rain, floods, and leeches to the Annapurna trekking trail. The paths are icy and snowy along the way. However, these calm times present a distinctive opportunity for daring explorers to experience Nepal's Annapurna Base Camp Trek.
Do I need vaccines for Annapurna Base Camp?
No vaccinations are required to enter Nepal or participate in the Annapurna Base Camp trek. However, you might want to think about getting a rabies shot since there are quite a few stray dogs roaming around the villages along the trekking route. It's a personal choice, but it's worth discussing with your doctor to see what they recommend based on your health history and comfort level.
How can I avoid altitude sickness on the Annapurna Base Camp Trek?
Maintain a steady, comfortable pace rather than trying to power through. Drink plenty of water throughout the day, aiming for 4 to 5 liters, and adhere to the acclimatization schedule outlined in the itinerary. Eat proper meals and skip the alcohol since it makes altitude adjustment much harder on your body.
If you're feeling unwell, dizzy, or experiencing headaches, please notify our guides immediately. They'll check your oxygen levels regularly with an oximeter and watch for any warning signs of altitude problems. In severe situations where someone needs to be evacuated quickly, we arrange a helicopter evacuation.
I’m afraid of suspension bridges. Will that be a problem during the Annapurna trek?
Don't worry! Our friendly guides are accustomed to helping trekkers who are nervous about bridge crossings, such as the Jhinu Danda suspension bridge, which is the highest and longest suspension bridge in the area. They'll stay right with you and provide physical support if you need it while crossing. Most trekkers become much more comfortable after a few crossings.
Trek Preparation and Gear Packing:
Who will carry my main luggage? Is a porter provided on the Annapurna Base Camp trek?
We assign one experienced porter for every two trekkers, and they'll carry the combined gear with a maximum weight limit of 25 kilograms total. You only need to bring a light daypack while walking, which makes the hiking much more comfortable. Since your porter will be walking ahead, keep your daily essentials in your daypack. Carry your water bottle, phone, camera, snacks, and any medications you might need during the day's hike.
What equipment is needed for Annapurna Base Camp?
You can find a complete breakdown of all the necessary equipment in the detailed packing list section on this page. That section covers everything you'll need to bring for the Annapurna Base Camp trek.
Can I store my extra luggage in Kathmandu?
Yes, your hotel in Kathmandu has a secure storage locker where you can leave any extra bags at no charge. You can pick up your stored luggage when you get back from the mountains. This setup lets you head out on the Annapurna Base Camp trek carrying only what you need, which makes the whole experience more comfortable.
Do you provide any trekking gear for use?
Yes, we provide several essential items for the Annapurna Base Camp Trek. You'll get a sleeping bag, down jacket, and duffel bag. The sleeping bag and jacket are our own Nepal Hiking Team brand, and they're rated to handle temperatures as low as -15°C.
We also provide you with a trek map to help you follow the route, along with a complimentary Nepal Hiking Team T-shirt and cap as part of your package.
Will I get a trip certificate after my Annapurna Base Camp Trek?
Yes, as a token of love from the Nepal Hiking Team, we will present you with a certificate of your achievement in completing the ABC Trek. It's our way of honoring your dedication and celebrating the accomplishment you have made.
Accommodation and Connectivity
What type of accommodation is available on the Annapurna Base Camp trek?
Up to Chhomrong, you'll have twin-sharing rooms where you'll share a room with just one other person. Once you go beyond Chhomrong and head into the higher elevations, the accommodation shifts to dormitory-style rooms that you'll share with 3 to 4 other trekkers. This change happens because there's less space and fewer facilities available at those higher altitudes.
Can I use Wi-Fi on the trek, and is there phone connectivity on the Annapurna Base Camp trekking route?
Yes, you can stay connected throughout most of the trek! Before you start, pick up local SIM cards from NTC or Ncell in Kathmandu. You can buy NTC and Ncell data packs. This provides you with sufficient connectivity to stay in touch with family and friends, as well as handle any essential business calls.
Can I charge my devices on the Annapurna Base Camp trek?
Yes, you can charge your devices on the ABC trek, as most teahouses along the route offer charging facilities for around NPR 200–500 per device. As the electricity often comes from solar power, it can be less reliable in the rainy season at higher altitudes. You can turn off your phone as it maximizes your battery life and ensures safety, including minimizing distractions.
However, it’s a good idea to bring a fully charged power bank or extra batteries as a backup. This way, you can keep your essential devices, phone, and cameras powered even if charging is limited or unavailable at times.
Are Western toilets available during the Annapurna Base Camp Trek?
Yes, you'll find Western-style and squat toilets at most teahouses. You won’t find western-style toilets above Sinuwa due to the higher elevation. During the winter months at higher elevations, it is recommended to use squat toilets.
How much does it cost to get a single room on the Annapurna Base Camp Trek?
Our standard package includes twin-sharing rooms, but if you prefer a private room, an additional fee applies, subject to availability. However, single rooms are subject to availability, and beyond Chhomrong, it is difficult to manage a private room in the busy seasons even if you are willing to pay extra money. So, in those conditions, you might have to use our standard package.
Meals and Drinking Water:
What kind of food is available on the Annapurna Base Camp trek?
The teahouse menu features a diverse selection of dishes, including Nepali, Indian, Italian, and Chinese cuisine. You'll also find desserts and cold drinks available when you want something different.
Everything is cooked fresh at each teahouse, and the meals are designed to give you the energy you need for the demanding high-altitude trekking. It's impressive how much variety you can get even in these remote mountain locations.
Are vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free meals available during the Annapurna Base Camp trek?
Yes, you can find vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options throughout the Annapurna Base Camp trek. If you have any dietary restrictions or are allergic to certain foods, please let our guide know so they can give the teahouses advance notice and ensure they're prepared to accommodate you adequately along the entire route.
Important: Please remind our guides of any food allergies once the trek begins. They will speak directly with the lodge kitchens to ensure you receive meals that are safe and suitable for your dietary requirements.
What is the quality of the drinking water on the Annapurna Base Camp Trek?
You have several options for safe drinking water during the trek. The best option is to use the natural spring water available along the route. Be sure to treat the water with the water purification tablets provided by our guide, or bring your filtered water bottle for added convenience. The teahouses also sell boiled water, which is another reliable and safe option. Water bottled is not available for purchasing during ABC Trek.
Customization: Private vs Group (Tips & Cost)
Can I customize my Annapurna Base Camp trek itinerary?
Yes, we offer customization options, allowing you to adjust the pace, add extra days for better adjustment, and allow you to decide where you want to stay. We will happily tailor the entire experience to match your wishes and preferences. Please note that customization is only available for private treks. If you're joining one of our group departures, you'll need to follow the standard itinerary that is set for the group.
Do you organize guided tours in Kathmandu city?
Yes, we can arrange a Kathmandu day tour for $120, either before your ABC trek starts or after you return from the mountains. This tour covers some of the most sacred temples and UNESCO World Heritage sites throughout the city. If you want to explore even more and have extra time, we also offer day tours in the towns of Bhaktapur and Patan for another $120.
When should I tip the guides and porters?
At the conclusion of your ABC trek (Pokhara), consider offering a gratuity to your trekking guide and porters, leaving it for them just prior to parting ways. Go with an amount that reflects your means and their service standard. A tip is a gesture of appreciation for their hard work that made your time enjoyable.
How much spending money should I bring for the ABC trek?
We recommend bringing around NPR 25,000 to cover your mountain expenses, such as Wi-Fi access, hot showers, device charging, and snacks along the trail. ATMs in the mountain areas can be unreliable or completely offline, so don't count on being able to withdraw cash once you're on the trek. You can use an ATM in Kathmandu before you start and carry all the money you'll need for the entire journey.
