Trip Overview

Known as the “Tent Peak” because of its peculiar shape and located in the Annapurna region is the Tharpu Chuli Peak. It sits in the heart of the Annapurna Sanctuary amidst one of the most magnificent ranges of the Annapurna Himalayas. The Tharpu Chuli Peak is generally considered one of the easier climbs in Nepal; it is suitable for beginners and those who would like to try climbing without previous mountaineering experience. The outing combines the trek to the base camp and traveling to local villages like Ghorepani, Chhomrong, and Dovan. The trip offers you splendid views of the mountains like Mt. Gangapurna (7455 m.), Machhapuchhre (6997 m.), Hiunchuli (6331 m.) besides the Annapurna massifs. Starting at the capital and moving on to Pokhara, the trekking journey initially starts from Birethanti. Then our trail takes us to Tikhe Dhunga as we slowly ascend to the Ghorepani via Nangethanti.

The Tharpu Chuli Peak is one of the most enjoyable climbing trails in the Annapurna region. Walking past the moraines, draped glaciers, and alpine Himalayan terrains of the Annapurna, the view post reaching the summit is exceptional. As the Annapurna Sanctuary abodes abundant flora and fauna in the region, you are likely to see the natural wildlife and vegetation of the place. We see the cultural Gurung villages, diverse vegetation, colorful landscapes, and the serene Modi Khola River on this course. The people in this region are an absolute delight and will treat you like their own. Post our journey to Poon Hill via the Gurung villages; we continue trekking towards the Annapurna Base Camp (ABC at 4130 m.). We trek to ABC and head to the Peak Base Camp (4910 m.) and finally to the summit of Tharpu Peak.

Overall, the climb is less technical than the Island or Mera Peak climb and can be a reasonable step to begin one’s mountaineering journey. However, since we will be trekking for about three weeks and more than 5 hours on most days, we grade this tour as a strenuous one. Additionally, one of the other highlights of this tour besides our summit to the peak is our hike to Poon Hill and the ABC, which can be demanding at times. Hence, we suggest all our travelers be in good health and dedicate some time to training for a supported physical journey.

Jaime, United States of America I did the Everest Base Camp tours with Nepal Hiking Team in October this year, and it was the most fantastic moment of my life! Prakash picked us up at the airport with marigold and silk scarves garlands, which was a very touching hospitable Nepali welcome. Then, as we were driven to the hotel, he explained our program to us about the Everest Base Camp. The sightseeing tour around Kathmandu Valley was very insightful as well. I had the valley tour before starting the trek to Everest's base camp. The heritage sights in Kathmandu and the durbar squares were excellent to look at. The valley of Kathmandu, or the city more like, was crowded with people, and the area around Thamel, where we had our hotel’s location as well, was filled with so many shops at every corner of the street and small temples, it was bizarre! Trek ten started with the flight to Lukla, and the trekking journey to Everest's base camp was beautiful! The many tiny villages and the settlements along the trail were different from the crowded Kathmandu and provided a drastic change in scenery from the city. The villages had the feeling of being so far away from all the busyness of the city, and the people seemed much calmer and peaceful there. The lifestyle of the people in those village areas was genuinely inspiring, and I enjoyed my time there a lot. The guesthouses and the tiny lodges that we were accommodated in were comfortable, and the people were hospitable. In fact, the higher we trekked, the more hospitable they were! Prakash then proceeded to guide us throughout the trekking journey, and the sceneries of the mountains and the villages were everything I had imagined it would be. The settlement at Namche was beautiful, and we had a look around the Art Gallery the Sherpa Culture Museum as well. The sights of the mountains were extraordinary! Nepal Hiking Team managed everything, and all of the transactions and the arrangements were made skillfully. The guide, Mr. Prakash Sapkota, was also beneficial. The head office staff were also available all the time to me, which was super convenient. I loved my vacation in Nepal, climbing the Everest Base Camp. Nepal Hiking Team did an outstanding and satisfactory job accompanying me in my journey. The trek was also done at a reasonable price, and I would recommend Nepal Hiking Team to people.
Hareth Alsaadi, Phillipines I went for Everest base camp trip by mid-Dec 2021. I was a little worried as I never went trekking in my entire life.. however, i did a lot of research and came across Nepal Hiking Team so I decided after much thought to go with them Initially, I was in contact with Ganga the CEO of the company... i was highly satisfied with his interaction and communication with me right from the beginning.. i had so many questions and concerns regarding the trip and he was able to guide me and answer me all my inquiries... the on-boarding process was smooth and easy.. when i arrived in Nepal I found everything ready starting from the person picking me up from the airport, the hotel, some equipment for the trek, full introductory meeting on what to expect from the journey, all ground transportation, and even before i left Nepal after the trek.. a PCR staff was provided and came to my hotel... As for my trekking guide Prakash. i am truly happy that i had him as my guide.. a very spectacular human being.. he was more than a guide.. he was a great companion as well.. he ensured that i was having a good time.. continuously shared his expertise of mountains, Sherpa people, and Nepalese culture.. he always went the extra mile to support me... even at days when it was tough for me to continue due to altitude sickness.. he encouraged me and inspired me not to give up on this lifetime journey.. he always puts health and safety first.. Despite all the challenges of Everest Base Camp trek.. but i am very glad i did it... and i did it with an excellent group of people.. Nepal Hiking Team.. i highly recommend them for anyone intends to go trekking in Nepal. Read this review on trip advisor (click here)
Peter, United States of America My friend and I recently spent 2 weeks in Nepal, guided by the Nepal Hiking Team. Our original trek was canceled by an international company,  and the Nepal Hiking Team stepped in flawlessly. Ganga answered all of our questions, had our safety as his top concern always, was flexible, and was gracious with his hospitality. From Kathmandu, Pokhara, to the various tea villages, all the way to ABC, our Nepal Hiking Team was phenomenal. Our guide Arjun and porter Prem were first class, helping us navigate and learn about the terrain, giving us sage advice, and also making sure we had a great time (thanks for the wine!). I felt truly connected with them and it was hard to leave! A massive thank you to the entire team. Let's summit one of those monsters together soon!
William Belue, USA Nepal Hiking was incredible starting with the airport pick up all the way to drop off at the end of the trip. I had a scenario in which the airline lost my luggage and NHT arrange for my boots to be delivered via helicopter. This alone speaks to the level of care they provide their clients. Our guide, Bal, was one of the most knowledgeable people I’ve had the opportunity to meet and his attention to detail truly made this experience for me. The accommodations, food, gear, etc all blew my expectations out of the water. If you are looking for a guided Nepal experience, please look no further. I met other trekkers along my journey who were paying more and receiving less. This trip was a surprise birthday present and I am already planning my next trip back. Ahmed, USA Joined recently for an Everest Base Camp tour and it was simply spectacular! The team was well equipped with all logistics and planning and Ganga did a fantastic job with communication before and during the trip too. As for the trip itself, it far exceeded expectations as we got lucky with great clear weather and really enjoying our hiking. Our tour guide Bal was excellent as he had a lot of previous experience, very knowledgeable, friendly, and a fun person. The accommodations and food were good too. Overall I would highly recommend Nepal Hiking Team to others. Note: Read this review on Tripadvisor (Click here)
